Though we might not agree with his politics, Senator Schumer has established a list of current/former New Yorkers whom the IRS owes a refund.
Unclaimed refunds are sorted alphabetically by last name and by city.
Check and see if your name appears. If other Freepers are aware of a master list or lists for other states, please post here or on another thread.

This is great. My Senator is putting a list on the Internet with First Name, Last Name and Zip Code of people that are owed money by the IRS. So much for personal privacy in dealing with IRS. Now everyone can check to see if I have some money coming to me! Thanks Chuck!

Bump. Why everyone should have a post office box and an unlisted number with an answering machine. All the privacy in the world. Haven't spoken to anyone I didn't want to in 30 years.

The unlisted number works great, but even with a P.O. Box, Form 1040 requires me to list my street address in addition to my mailing address. So I'm back to grousing about the IRS, Chuckie Schumer and lack of privacy. : (

It's illegal for the IRS to release taxpayer information...how come it's OK for Schumer to do so?
