Members of the '70's Swedish Band Abba say they won't get back together--not even for 1 Billion dollars.
An American-British consortium offered them that amount to reunite for 100 concerts, but they refused.
'It is a hell of a lot of money to say no to, but we decided it wasn't for us.' Benny Andersson tells the Swedish tabloid Aftenbladet.
ABBA disbanded 17 years ago, but their hit songs are curently experiencing an international revival.
Part of the credit goes to the teen group A-Teens, whose covers of 'Gimme, Gimme, Gimme and 'Mamma Mia' have risen up the charts.
And the musical 'Mamma Mia,' based on ABBA songs, has become a hit in London --sending sales of the album 'ABBA Gold' soaring.

Is this the sign of the apocolpyse?

Well, then give the billion to the Cowsills - they were just as good. Then, go down the list: Danny and the Juniors, Rosie and the Originals... add your own candidates.

ABBA made that refusal over a year ago. This is not fresh news, but perhaps they restated their position on the issue.

Refusal to whom, Bill Gates??
Who is going to pay them 1 Billion to do anything..
To: codebreaker
Abba fan here (of the singles). Remember, they are the biggest selling group worldwide after the Beatles.
I'll admit, they were kind of bubble gummy, but their melodic tunes still bring a smile to my face to this day.

thank God! no kidding... we'd have to come up with over a billion to out bid them NOT to come back.

I dont think they are that bad.. but ONE BILLION DOLLARS?

What the article doesn't say is:
ABBA would have gladly taken a Bil for the tour, but after discussions with their tax consultant it was
revealed their take after all 100 concerts would be $11.84 each after Sweden's cruel tax system.

I'll admit, they were kind of bubble gummy, but their melodic tunes still bring a smile to my face to this day. And I am a proud owner of "ABBA: Gold." I can't believe they turned down a cool billion. 100 concerts would be what, a year or two of work? That's a pretty good salary, even after Swedish taxes...
To: codebreaker
Let's see. One billion dollars income at a Swedish income tax rate of 104%, that's a tax bill of 40 million dollars. No thank you.
To: snowfox
geez, you're cruel just to think of that

Am the proud owner of Abba Gold So am I. My Peruvian ex-girlfriend had Abba Oro, the same songs, except in Spanish ("Fernando" actually sounds better in that language).
