No surprise here. Arafat will come up with the bare minimum of what he needs to say to appease Bush/Powell.

Wait a minute - in their wacky, tacky, stupid-sick raghead world, won't he get publicly beaten for that? Just look at what they do to women who flash an ankle...

Six dead and eighty-five wounded and we want a 24 hour postponement. The period of non violence for our aiding a known terrorist is getting shorter and shorter. Listening to our government trying to explain the difference between Arafat and other terrorists is getting more and more sickening.

Palestinians say Powell - Arafat meeting postponed |

RAMALLAH, West Bank, April 12 (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of
State Colin Powell has called off a meeting with Palestinian
President Yasser Arafat scheduled for Saturday, Palestinian
cabinet ministers told Reuters.
"The meeting is postponed," Palestinian Minister of
Information Yasser Abed Rabbo said, adding that he had no
information about whether it had been rescheduled for Sunday.
The State Department had earlier indicated that Powell was
reviewing the meeting with Arafat, after a female Palestinian
suicide bomber killed six Israelis outside a crowded market
place in Jerusalem on Friday.
The White House demanded that Arafat condemn the attack,
responsibility for which was claimed by the al-Aqsa Martyrs
Brigades, an armed group linked to Arafat's Fatah faction.
"The Americans told us that the meeting between President
Arafat and Mr Powell is postponed, without saying why or when it
will take place," another Palestinian cabinet minister, Azzam
al-Ahmad, told Reuters.

Palestinians say Powell-Arafat meeting postponed

There is, probably well founded, concern that someone may try to martyrize our Secretary of State.

Wow. Postponing the meeting a WHOLE DAY! Now that's showing some spine. Notice it was the Palestinian information minister saying that. We know he lies, alot.
The paragraph above says that "The White House ... raised doubts as to when-- or whether-- Powell would meet with Arafat if the Palestinian leader did not make such a statement. Now, IMHO, it would be criminally irresponsible to meet with Arafat after he's just slapped your country and your President right in the kisser and rubbed their noses in his feces.

"Listening to our government trying to explain the difference between Arafat and other terrorists is getting more and more sickening." so sad, so true. Would we (U.S.) be holding peace talks if suicide bombers were blowing up our innocent civilians? Our government is having a harder and harder time with the task of presenting Arafat in even a slightly positive light....

Meeting is OFF! That means OFF! (Quote from state dept.)
To: Catspaw
lol...true. However, I am looking at it a bit differently. Sometimes things have a way of getting put off a bit...and then they just get cancelled. It is POSSIBLE this will happen in this case, though I am not sure.

A senior Palestinian official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said U.S. officials had given the Palestinian Authority 24 hours to condemn the bombing.

Fox just peported that the State Dept. has indefinately cancelled the meeting. Not postponed or delayed.
To: ARCADIA
State Dept. just gave a short briefing in Israel. Fox covered it.
To: be-baw
In memory of the 6 that died Powell should postpone meeting Arafart 1 week for each murdered Israeli.
So Powell could reschedule for 6 weeks from now... And if there is anything left of Arafart and his terrorists we could continue discussions!
It would be something if the PLO accidentally wounded Powell! This would be the end of the PLO as the US is not as kind as the Israelis.

Powell is the WEAKEST LINK..(is that politically incorrect)....and what's he going to do, stay until Arafat says something Powell likes? Ridiculous....Bush is being weakened by very bad advice.
To: Ann Archy
According to Boucher at the State Dept. Arafat speak is not a pre-condition to resuming the cancelled meeting. The quote was "off means off!"
To: Catspaw
Hehehehe!! Heck, if I had to go into that feces smelling compound to meet with the ugliest man on earth, I would probably postpone the meeting indefinitely. That scarf must be rancid also. Bowell may think Arafat was already sleeping with the fishes!!HoHo
