President Bush on Friday greeted Olympic figure skater Sarah Hughes at the White House.
The president met privately with the 16-year-old gold medalist in the Oval Office, said White House spokesman Ari Fleischer. Hughes arrived and left outside the view of reporters.
The high school junior from Great Neck, N.Y., shocked the sports world Feb. 21 when she turned in a gold medal-winning performance in the figure skating finals, after finishing fourth in the Olympic short program.
What if Clinton were president?

Sarah Hughes represented beautifully at the Winter Olympics.
Maybe I am reading to much into this, but is somthing being implied?
That is the first question I asked myself when I saw the headline.
I figure her parents would have turned down the offer or made it conditional on there being other people with her at all times.
On the other hand, Sarah could probably beat up the toon.
Great Neck has made a huge deal over this Gold Medal kid, with posters all over town and a parade down the main drag. It seemed like a bit of overkill at first but, and this is the part that the media doesn't connect, there were over thirty commuter cars at the Great Neck LIRR station that were not driven home on 9/11. The Catholic Parishes in the two adjacent towns, Manhasset and New Hyde Park, had over sixty funerals, and they aren't over yet.
Everyone in these towns was affected. Those who did not know any of the dead lived with the smell from GZ for days. It carried this far and much further.
This little hometown girl beating the odds was like a ray of light through a storm.
