New Jersey High School Library Creates Homosexual
Section
By Martha Kleder
Trenton, New Jerseys Central High School plans to institute a Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) section to its school library. The move follows a donation of $1,600 worth of homosexual books from the Trenton Gay and Lesbian Civic Association.
Seriah Rein, Concerned Women for Americas New Jersey State Director, says the move borders on illegal. The school is placing itself in the position of going against the spiritual values taught by parents. Furthermore, by law, as a public institution, the school is to teach and reflect community standards.
But the proposed GLBT library section goes against still another law governing the actions of the states elementary and secondary schools, Rein said.
New Jersey passed a law last December mandating that abstinence be stressed throughout all sex-ed curriculum. This law was passed in response to the failure of comprehensive sex education to reduce the states overly high rate of STDs and AIDS, she said. Introduction of this propaganda encouraging homosexuality is not consistent with state law.
Rein notes that the state is currently struggling with an epidemic of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). New Jersey also has the dubious distinction of having one of the highest rates of AIDS and HIV infection per capita in the nation.
There is no room for chastity in the homosexual lifestyle it is defined by its promiscuous nature, especially among men, and the consequences have been devastating, Rein said. Promiscuity should never be encouraged, she added.
A recent survey found that over 60 percent of female students at Rutgers, New Jerseys State University, were found to be infected with the incurable Human Papillomavirus (HPV), the leading cause of cervical cancer.
Peter LaBarbera, senior policy analyst for the Culture and Family Institute, said the addition of a GLBT section to a public library is just one example of the kind of push homosexual activists are making into our public education system.
The advice that homosexual activists give kids embrace your homosexuality only harms them. Its false compassion. Witness the young death ages in the obituary pages of homosexual newspapers, with men dying in their 30s and 40s, LaBarbera said. If this new wing cant be stopped, Christians are going to have to step up to the plate and send this library ex-gay books and other materials that approach the issue from a traditional perspective.
Peter Frycki, vice president of the Trenton Gay and Lesbian Civic Association (TGLCA), said the homosexual book donation was prompted by several teachers at the school.
For kids who feel alone, just knowing there is literature out there, that there are communities out there, is important, Frycki told the homosexual news outlet Gay.com.
School Superintendent James Lytle welcomed the gift, but added that he had no idea how many students identify themselves as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered.
If youve got a community with 2,000-plus kids, there are going to be some who need these services, Lytle told Gay.com.
Rein, however, said the effort by TGLCA is self-serving and aimed at recruitment.
Distribution of homosexual literature to impressionable schoolchildren at a time when they are still defining who and what they are, is tragic, said Rein. All the studies document the confusion that some who are sexually abused or raped have over their sexual identity.
Rather than guiding these children to where they can receive genuine help, the school is distributing biased literature, she added. No literature putting a white-wash over the practice of homosexuality is going to take away the self-knowledge that is deep within each student that the practice of homosexuality is very wrong.
It grieves me that Mr. Lytle has allowed his travesty on his watch, for it is toxic to the student body, especially the homosexual student who is genuinely searching, Rein said. Mr. Lytle should reconsider acceptance of this gift.
Ta Da.....schools are NOT in the business of education - they are in the business of SERVICE, however, THEY define it.......
And what choice do the poor unfortunate parents of the Trenton school system have? Oh that's right -- Dubya wouldn't stand up for vouchers so ALL of America is still held hostage by the NEA.
A civic group that hopes to diversify the Trenton Central High School library collection with gay- and lesbian-themed literature has found an ally in school Superintendent James Lytle.

TRENTON - A civic group that hopes to diversify the Trenton Central High School library collection with gay- and lesbian-themed literature has found an ally in school Superintendent James Lytle.
Months after the Trenton Gay and Lesbian Civic Association (TGLCA) offered to buy up to $1,600 worth of books or other resources for the school, the effort seems on the verge of success.
``I've talked to the high school and we're looking forward to working with them,'' Lytle said last week. ``We're hoping to have a faculty member to be a sponsor.''
Failing that, a school-based youth services program could serve as the coordinating group, he said.
``The Trenton Board of Education and TGLCA are aware these kinds of efforts have been made nationwide,'' said TGLCA trustee Rob Laczko. ``We're trying to figure out which approach will fit best in Trenton Central High. Just because something works great in Princeton or West Windsor doesn't mean it would work as well in Trenton.''
Lytle said he has no idea how many students identify themselves as gay, lesbian or bisexual but said there is no question some would benefit from positive portrayals in literature of people who share their sexual orientation.
``If you've got a community with 2,000-plus kids, there are going to be some who need these services,'' he said.
He said the books provided by the civic association might be kept in a room dedicated as a drop-in center for sexual education and services rather than in the library.
TGLCA Vice President Peter Frycki said the idea to provide gay-themed books sprang from conversations that members of his organization had with several teachers at the school. He said the teachers reported the high school can be a threatening place for sexual minorities.
``For kids who feel alone, just knowing there is literature out there, that there are communities out there, is important,'' Frycki said. ``They see (depictions of gay people) on TV, but they might not know there are people like them in their own community. That can be very liberating and positive.''
Frycki said the civic association has been ready and willing to work with the high school since July, when the bulk of the money was raised.
It has compiled a list of age-appropriate books with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered characters and themes with the help of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), a national group that fights anti-gay harassment in schools.
``I think this effort is to be commended,'' said GLSEN spokesman Jim Anderson. ``The presence of information in school libraries can provide a lifeline to young people, just as the absence of information can be devastating and aggravate their isolation.
``There's a real benefit to entire school communities, not just LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered) students,'' Anderson said. ``Ignorance and a lack of information often leads to fear and sometimes violence.''
GAG!!!
This is beyond reason, but then everything left wing is.
No. They say Bibles are too violent for students - no kidding!
What they need is a Biblical section , for the real sake of those children. Only through rightous living will those children find their way out of poverty and disease.
I'll keep my distance, thank you.
Gosh isn't that just...swell.

I guess you can add libraries with gay book sections.
"I think this effort is to be commended, said GLSEN spokesman Jim Anderson. "The presence of information in school libraries can provide a lifeline to young people, just as the absence of information can be devastating and aggravate their isolation."
GLSEN recommends the book "Young, Gay and Proud!" on its recommended reading list for teens. In that book the following is stated:
""Doing it: Gay men...Many people don't know the anus is not only an organ to remove waste. It's very sexually exciteable...Your first few times having anal sex might be a little hard. You may have to practice a bit before it starts feeling really good. I sure did." (pg. 81)"
So Jim Anderson, could explain to us how this provides "a lifeline to young people?"
