In the House when the issue of Gulf leases was voted on, there were a number of dim-witted Republicans from Florida who voted against the leases. Much of the coastline in Florida is comprised of tourist resorts. Tourism is the number one industry in Florida. Tourists don't want to see oil rigs while sitting on the beach. Therefore, Florida congresscritters are against it as it would ruin the main industry of the state.

Much of the coastline in Florida is comprised of tourist resorts. Tourism is the number one industry in Florida. Tourists don't want to see oil rigs while sitting on the beach. Therefore, Florida congresscritters are against it as it would ruin the main industry of the state. Not so! The leases for sale were in the neighborhood of 70 or more miles off shore, well beyond sight. The dimwits simply caved to the demands of the Green lobby, just as is the case now in Alaska where we're talking 2,000 acres of development in a 19 million acre "refuge".
