Live Thread: President Bush and Prime Minister Blair Press Conference, Noon EST, 4/6/02
self | Saturday, April 6, 2002 | Kristinn

Posted on 04/06/2002 7:49:04 AM PST by kristinn

Live from Crawford, Texas, it's the George and Tony show.

Will George slap Bill and Yasser around again like he did last night? Will Tony come off as George's toy poodle? Will the press be their usual boorish selves ? Is Helen Thomas there ?

The answer to these and other questions will be answered at Noon eastern time.

Please site a case where the Patriot Act has been used in that manner.

There are no active cases of yet. Maybe, you could be the government's fall-gal/guy. It doesn't matter, the Patriot Act and the CFR Act, both laws signed by Bush are methods to maintain a police-state. I suppose you like this concept.

"We have military forces deployed all over the world. We are everywhere. Why? We are a nation of 1/3 billion folks and the world population is about 50 billion.
Why does America have to take charge? Why does America have to play world cop?"

*sigh*. Granted, we have military forces deployed in many places around the world. Didn't anyone ever teach you that being a good neighbor has it's rewards as well as burdens ? Surely you're capable of seeing beyond your nose and recognize the benefit of established bases in critical locations around the world ?

So, I ask you again, who would you pass that responsibiliy off to ? France ? Turkey ? How about North Korea ? China ? Pick one.

No, I don't want cockroaches in my kitchen just like I don't want government taking pictures of me in my bedroom. And I don't want my government screwing with other other soverign nations. Our government is out of control; you love it to shape your well being.

Ohio-Unfortunately for them and their claims, we have record of his 'losing their support' on scores of issues since January 20, 2001. These guys are mad at the world, and George W. Bush is their whipping boy.

Awwwwwwwwww schucks! Poor George. How is he EVER gonna cope without their votes? Shuckie dernos....poor baby, losing the votes of such a gruesome twosome must be making him shake in his boots...

Buckeroo...you ol dog you. You are still putzing around growling and sniveling....why not take a moment to reflect on the good things that have happened while you maintain the vigilance keeping our republic free. But while you are doing it, remember one thing, politics will always involve some form of negotiation.

Who would you rather be the "overseer" of the world? With the foreign policies of the world nations being so anti American, I would trust America as "policeman of the world" much more than I would any of it's allies and especially more than it's enemies.

Oh....you mean like we did when we joined Britain in going after Hitler in WWII. Sometimes in order to PROTECT your own REPUBLIC, you have to venture off the shoreline. Ya want terrorists flying planes into our bldgs from other nations, ya want someone ( perhaps a US citizen) bringing in a caseload of smallpox, ya want to sit back and let innocents be brutalized cause it 'ain't your problem'? Huh?

We live in a concentration camp and only a few folks recognise this..

Yikes. You've really lost it this time!

If this is a concentratin camp-then I will take it! I like a concentration camp that offers freedom to leave, freedom to protest, freedom to vote and the freedom to backtalk!

The only higher government than the U.S. Constitution that I believe in is the law of God. And I'm just about sick and tired of you talking about the U.S. Constitution as if were some delicate and brittle holy relic. It is a living, enduring and flexible document that has withstood greater calamities than we face today and it still endures, even stronger than ever

If the U.S. doesn't lead in the world, then sooner or later, by sheer force of numbers, we will be forced to follow, and that is a threat to our way of life. Believe you me, if we weren't so strong and influential in the world, entities like the UN would be walking all over us, just like they walk all over the puny and weak countries. The U.S. doesn't exist alone in the world, we have to work in the world, and as long as we're the sole superpower, we can exert our influence on the world, rather than the other way around.

And it is people like me, like President Bush, pragmatic optimists, who wrote the U.S. Constitution, not cynical, pessimistic scaredy cats, afraid of things going bump in the night, like you.

Buckeroo: There aren't any.

republic: Oh...I didn't realize that you WANTED the Kyoto treaty signed that our President does not intend to sign. And golly, I had forgotten that you WANTED our President to go along with every UN initiative...so far he has knocked down TWO. Hmmm...can't find any good, hey, Buck? Perhaps that log wedged in your eyes has blurrrrrrrrrrrrred your vision!

Our government sucks about 50% of your hard earned money to fight wars that you rally around because of the liberal media causation effort to thwart your rights and liberties.

No wonder America is dead. You are at the forefront of killing us.

I totally agree - and it reaffirms my assessment that our President is aware the press has vilified him for seeming to be tooooo casual about this affair. Also, it shows unity with Blair (to the media).

I'm looking forward to Bush unrolling a large Wanted Dead or Alive poster of Saddam as he announces the move on Saddam has begun. Of course Bush will be dresses in Cowboy attire with a six shooter straped to his hip.

Funny! Thing is....if EVER there was a new and brighter sheriff in town, we sure got one with President Bush. Hehe I like that in a President!

Howdy

Popped back in, it was amusing to debate with you.

Amusing is a mild word, it is not often that as staunch a foe of the liberal, socialist, collectivist, marxist blight upon humanity as I can be viewed a socialist myself!

You, sir, are off the deep end in my estimation, but at least you are on the correct end of the pool.

Yes, the UN is a socialist blight, yes, the europeans are descending into a socialist tyrrany even as individual european governments flee from the unmitigated flop of liberal poltics at home, yes the abridgements of our cherished liberties that we have suffered after a generation of vile leftist pollution are unjust and cry out for patriots to heal the wounds that the Constitution has suffered, and yes, the stench from the bench is making me clench as black robed usurpers of legislative powers seek to dictate their asinine leftist views upon an unwilling nation.

Yes, yes, yes, you are right, the state of affars today is outrageous, and to see the outrage you must be something of a purist, and that I admire.

But, sir, surely you recognize that liberty demands eternal vigilance? Even as we fight to stave off the bloody hand of foreign terror today, your argument proceeds from the perspective that there is no liberty left to defend.

What shall we do? Lie down and die because the lefties have made a mess of this nation? No, we must crush the terrorists, and we must crush the ideas that led our nation to open itself to mass murder.

I have been saying since September 12th that there are no *thinking* liberals left, the left wing is now wholly occupied by individuals incapable of critical thought, they will never be allowed to lead this great nation again.

I think you should take heart, there is still an America worth fighting for, both in terms of a physical human right to exist, and in the marketplace of ideas, where grimy liberalism must be washed away, and for that we need True Beleivers like you to set aside your bitter cynicism, pick up a sponge, and start scrubbing.

We have work to do.

Geez Louise, if people like you had been in charge of the Revolution, there wouldn't even BE a United States. What does it mean to you to be an American anyway? Are you one of those white-supremacist, separatist militiamen?

Excuse me - but I don't believe the Supreme Court has ruled on that yet! Aren't you kind of jumping the gun with your accusation - so to speak??

And ... if you don't like our President or First Lady - so what!

And ... the only good thing about Washington is my niece who lives there.
