SEVERAL LETTER WRITERS, reporters and columnists at The Examiner have taken Republicans to task for being "extremist" and "right wing." But a look at the facts about the Democrats and their false claim to the mantle of moderation reveals them to be more extreme and radical, and far more out of touch with the average Californian. Consider this:
• The Democrats strongly opposed Proposition 209, the anti-affirmative action measure. It passed in a landslide that included the votes of many minorities. Republicans were more in touch with the California voter.
• Demos strongly opposed Prop. 227, which opposed bilingual education for immigrant children in our schools. Again, the overwhelming majority of Californians sided with Republicans in passing this measure.
• Demos strongly opposed the "Three Strikes-You're Out" initiative. Again, the Demos sided with the gang bangers and lefties and were buried in a landslide. And again, the Republicans were in sync with the heartbeat of California.
• The Demos opposed Prop. 187, which would prevent offering governmental benefits to illegal aliens, and again sided with the lawbreakers. The Republicans, again, were in tune with the people of California -- the overwhelming majority of whom passed this measure. Although much of Prop. 187 was later gutted by a court, it was largely reinstated by Congress the following year.
• Again, when homosexual marriage was brought to a vote, the radical Demos squealed it was more "discrimination." Yet, the average Californian overwhelmingly agreed with Republicans that marriage is both historically and biblically the province of heterosexual couples. They didn't want to redefine marriage. In response, the leftist-controlled Democrats in the state Legislature viciously and cynically redefined homosexual unions so they could enjoy essentially all the rights of marriage -- they simply didn't call it marriage. Why vote when you have Democrats in the Legislature?
You're right. The ballot propositions are not labled "Republican" or "Democrat", and consequently, people vote how they really think on each particular issue.
Although I am glad to see common sense rise to the top!!
Isn't it ironic that so few actually have "common" sense?
They still think any Republican vote is anti-abortion support!
