Money, Money, Money! Like god (or should that be God) really gives a s**t whether the body is embalmed, cremated, buried, burnt, whatever...

And if the Levitt-Weinstein funeral home tampered with his wife's body without permission, while claiming all the while to be providing service compatible with Jewish law, then they've committed fraud.

Okay, I must admit that you are obsolutely correct on this point.

the traditions of Reform JudaismBased on my early education in Reform Judaism, it seems that the only inviolable tradition they have is voting for Democrats.

Actually, under Judaism, a person is not supposed to be embalmed.

You are free to believe in depravity and nihilism, as your screen name indicates, but you have no right to deny another their chosen faith and traditions.

"There will be no closure now," said Post. "If you are embalmed or tattooed, you are denied the privilege of seeing God. My wife will never rest in peace." I wonder what they think happens to the poor bastards thats were tattooed by the nazis in the camps.
Most even vaguely religious Jews I know will not get tattoos, though quite a few of them seem ok with piercing every available protrusion.

I'm a back-sliding Baptist myself, and I don't want to be embalmed either. I don't want to turn, gradually, to goo. Just let me return to dust and be done with it.I am, however, okay with being pushed through those PlayDough Fun Factory machines and being made into interesting and educational shapes.

A Viking funeral will be fine for me. But you will have to bring your own beer.

A Viking funeral will be fine for me. But you will have to bring your own beer.On the other hand, I will be more educational for children. They can fashion my noodle-like corpse into numbers and letters.
To: Deguello
Keep the beer away from your Viking funeral. Hint: the departed one must be cremated while being put out to sea......

I got that worked out. We could use an old boat less the motor and float it in a stock tank.
And if it is during the Fall season, have a Dove shoot before and after.

Sounds great. But let's not forget the traditional Swan Feast.
But, still, the challenge will be to keep the beer-logged "mourners" from peeing on and extinguishing the funeral pyre...
