Cheney to toss first pitch at Rangers' home opener

04/03/2002

By G. ROBERT HILLMAN / Washington Bureau of The Dallas Morning News

WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney will throw out the first ball Friday afternoon at the Rangers' home opener against the Anaheim Angels, the White House said Friday. The game starts at 2:05 p.m.

Mr. Cheney, who is on a cross-country political fund-raising tour, will head directly to The Ballpark in Arlington and plans no other appearances in the area, spokeswoman Cathy Martin said.

President Bush, a former managing partner of the baseball club, also will be in Texas, arriving Thursday night for a long weekend of meetings at his Crawford ranch with British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Must be a bit scary for someone who spent the last 6 months in "undisclosed" locations.

Actually, the home opener has been moved to an "undisclosed location."

He knew all along where he was.

Don't be too sure of that--them Secret Service agents and helicopter pilots might have a sense of humor...

I'll be at the game to cheer Mr. Cheney on - his pitch will be a strike right down the middle, just like Mr. Bush's during last year's World Serious!

B.T.W., the game is in Arlington, at the Ballpark - the stRangers are playing the Angels.

I thought the Rangers were a hockey team. Like to see that first "pitch".
