She was also the last Empress of India. (It was not Queen Victoria).

The poor dear. God rest her soul. Her courage during WWII was a shining beacon to the world.

If I had a side bar salad ....I would have got this news ASAp... That is EXACTLY where I received this sad news. Click on 'TOPIC' in upper right hand corner; scroll down to "BREAKING NEWS"; click; then scroll up a bit, and click on "CLICK TO SUBSCRIBE" in the left sidebar. Refresh your page, and "BREAKING NEWS" will appear in your sidebar. Trust me...if I can do it (admittedly; my cat helped), ANYONE can!

What a lady! She's blessed us all.

If I am not mistaken, the year 1900 is the last year of the 19th century.
To: texasbluebell
Thanks for the Pics. The only ones I've seen of her were in her declining years.
BTW, she attributed her longevity to Homeopathy!

So, will it be King Charles now?

Another reason to have BREAKING NEWS! I've tried adding it and I can't get it to work. I am very sorry to hear about the passing of the Queen Mother, the English people will now have another Royal to grieve for and a more somber Easter. My mom is such an Anglophile, and I feel a strong connections with this nation as well
(IF I am having dificulty getting breaking news, imagine what a brand new person to FR will think? You have to SIGN UP for breaking news??????? He'll be off to Drudge in a heartbeat. I just don't get this...)

R.I.P. Queen Mum...God bless her soul.

My sympathies to the British people. She was one Royal that everyone loved. The thought of her brave words when Buckingham Palace was bombed during WWII - that now she could face the people of the East End whose homes had already been bombed - always brought tears to my eyes, and certainly do today.

Will Elton John write a song?
To: Lael
Another lovely old photo of her.
