What the heck happened? We had a perfectly acceptable format for posting/reading threads and then....?

Not impressed, not happy, confused. Can I go back to the old way?

What is the difference between "Body of Thread" and "Body of Comment"?

Ok, I now see the difference. Still not happy with the changes.

Too old to learn new tricks.

The main thing is that you used to be able to turn to this site and immediately get the breaking news, then you could go to the separate items. This WAS the best site I had seen for breaking news. No more. I still don't have it, even though I got the page. I have nothing in the sidebar except the hey dude. TERRIBLE design! This is what you would have thought FR looked like BEFORE it's clearly dumped previous design -- which was simple to use. This site is nicer looking but it is NOT fun or easy to visit.

I agree with you. I miss the old format. Whenever I was in a hurry, I could always scroll down the breaking news column to see what was important enough to read at that time and then later when I had more time I would come back and read the other posts.

Abso-effin'-lutely.

I'll trust JimRob's reasoning and get used to it.

Agree with all previous comments about the Breaking News sidebar. That was the main reason I came to FR - it would have the story when no one else had or in many cases would ever have. If you lose what set you apart, people will just drift away. We're in a hurry and have way too many sources for this info, please don't give us one more problem - we have enough now.

I always miss the old format everytime they make changes but then after a day or two, I change my mind and like it better. I think if they put it to the format of 2 or 3 years ago, people would complain about that.

This old dog took almost 15 minutes to figure out the new format.
Sheesh, I hate being forced to learn new tricks.

I have no idea what the breaking news is. Loading time is forever, and I imagine those with a slow PC, not even getting it to load. I hope this is a test. Other than that rock on.

Eggs, you or someone will have to keep bumping it to see it.

Jim, what's the possibility of getting "Breaking News" back in? I know that sidebar was troublesome to maintain, what with duplicates and trivial data posted there, but I also really truely used it to find the very LATEST going on in the world. It was one of those things, IMHO, that made your site the BEST on the Web.

You can fix it so that you do have breaking news. Go way up to the top right corner (small print) and click on topics. Or check out the "Hey Dude..."

If I can fix mine so that I can see breaking news, I'm sure you can, because I am absolutely incompetent with computers.

I too liked the old format better -- because it did NOT resemble any of the other web sites. This new format is very much like other web sites, IMO. I prefer a much cleaner, simpler look. Which is what I thought the old FR had. But, I do admire the creators of this site for their willingness to try new things. However, this version is like "New Classic Coke" - it may be better to stick to the old Coca Cola.
