No, this is awful!
I don't know where anything is anymore!
Where are the sidebars?
I used to go straight to them
to find out
what was going on.

Agree about the left column. The American Flag graphic slows down scrolling significantly! The headline fonts are too small in relation to the paragraph of posting text beneath. The empty left hand "gutter" column distracts the eye from catching the headlines, forcing you to refocus on the successive headlines. Actually, not empty, the colors in the flag graphic overwhelm the eye/brain attention as you quickly try to scan down the now too small headlines.
I looked at the BETA, but had no idea that such a flawed implementation was so close to being used. It will probably cut down on my FR viewing since its getting too hard to SCAN for news in all of the new graphics clutter. Bye the way, I've got DSL and it still takes to long to load the latest posts, too much time spent painting the left gutter column American Flag.
My suggestion would be to kill the left gutter column and put any admin/control info to the right. If this keeps up soon the FR presentation (not content) won't be much better than UBB sites.

You should have seen the forum 5 or 6 years ago. The server was painfully slow... so slow I didn't bother signing up until years later. There was a huge list of topics (many of them duplicates) in a left-side frame.
IMO, the new forum features should have blended in with the old format.
Oh well... 'this too shall pass'.

Yeah, some really LOVELY new features, such as instant migraine, loading time, during which I find I need a hair cut, and an almst TOTAL incompatability with what I use, to acess FR.

I hate it. Is FR going mainstream, mass market? When's Dan Rather getting a deadicated post site?

I would prefer the old layout. It was faster and and easer to sort thru the info here on fr. Please bring back the headers only of the articles. Im not intersted in seeing the snipits of the content. it takes to much scrolling to see my daily news.

Nonsensical, silly foolishness.
If I had to guess what I did that day ... I was selling 8 mhz and 4 mb RAM Radio Shack Computers and probably being forced by my friends/thugs/masters to find a 25 cent beer night and maximize the value.
To: nopardons
ROTFL, well, look at it this way... since it posts a whole comment on the front page there, I can write one of my three-mile long responses and smack the whole thing right up there in front of everybody on the main page instead of having it hid on a thread, where it dies.
I will be cursed roundly for hogging main news space. : )

Click on topics and suscribe to 'Breaking News' and any other heading you'd like to appear in your sidebar. Been there, done that...
I normally leave cookies disabled unless I'm posting. Now I cannot get a breaking news sidebar unless I have cookies enabled. I have no desire to leave cookies enabled, because I'll ultimately forget to turn them back off. Therefore, despite the fact that the "Breaking News" sidebar technically still exists, in my case, it is effectively gone. Bummer.
Unless I am mistaken, lurkers that have not yet registered will also not see the breaking news sidebar. IMHO, this is not a good feature.

Yeah, after looking around I find it mildly ironic that this post actually belongs
here. Ah, well, I'm sure the bugs will get worked out...

"Any time you change things people have issues. Just be patient and let the powers that be respond to these problems." Not so. People do have issues with unnecessary change...not all change.
This is unnecessary change!
The "Powers That Be" wouldn't need to respond to problems had they made sure the problems were addressed before the roll out of the new format. What else should they expect?
To: nopardons
Your prolific input is testament to your ability to overcome all odds I guess.

With this new layout, does your screen have a "jerking" type scroll or does it scroll "smoothly" when you push the scroll button on your computer?
