CHICAGO (AP) - The Rev. Jesse Jackson (news - web sites) on Friday urged President Bush (news - web sites) to protect Yasser Arafat (news - web sites), saying he feared the Middle East will erupt in war if Israelis kill the Palestinian leader.
"It would be unthinkable foreign policy if we were to use less than our full efforts to stop this escalation, this aim at killing him," Jackson said.
He made his plea hours after Israeli troops stormed Arafat's headquarters in response to deadly anti-Israeli attacks this week.
Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said Friday that Israel's "endgame is to kill Arafat," however Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon (news - web sites) Sharon aide Ranaan Gissin dismissed the allegation as "nonsense."
Jackson said the United States and the United Nations (news - web sites) "have the burden and capacity to move in" to keep Arafat from being killed. He said he had not been able to get through to the White House.
Secretary of State Colin Powell (news - web sites) said Friday that Israel has promised not to harm Arafat during the assault on his compound. But Jackson said the United States "cannot be passive third parties" to the attack.
Jackson is an idiot. If Israelis wanted to kill Arafat they would've sent F-16's to do the job, not tanks.
*Parachute optional.
I hope Bush gives the Israelis the obvious advice - kill Arafat. If they allow him to continue breathing anywhere else, he will still be directing terrorism. He is no better than Osama Bin-Ladin or any other one of those half-baked Muslim camel-drivers.
Maybe Bush should ask the Israeli secret police to wipe out Jackson.
Not surprising that Jesse decided to argue the side of the "nonsense."
If Israel wanted Arafat dead, he'd be dead.
Or is it more like why a shark won't attack a lawyer . . . professional courtesy?
Thanks for the advice Jesse, but when the adminstration needs international affairs consultation from has-been black character actors from 1972, they turn to Nipsey Russell.

Hey Jesse, I sense opportunity here! Get over to his compound and smear his blood on your shirt and claim you were by Arafats side when he died!
(Either that or knock Arafat up with a 'love child')
This line says it all. Jesse wants to be impo'tant again.
The one thing these folks had in common was their animosity toward democratic principles. These people seem to share one driving force, dislike for the principles and laws of our nation.
They are each leftists. They support just about anything that is directly opposed to what the US stands for. Some of them, and I submit all of them by by way of their intertwined motives, support the Arab position in the middle-east.
What most people see as Jessie going off on one of his rants is anything but. I think he speaks for a lot more people than most understand, under the socialist mantle that permeates all those groups. We shouldn't view any of them as working in a vacuum. They are simple a different facet on the same stone.
