RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters) - Israeli troops opened fire Friday on the private offices of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat in the West Bank city of Ramallah, Palestinian officials said.
A Palestinian official said Arafat's life was in jeopardy.
Palestinians have been waging an uprising against occupation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip since September 2000. At least 1,107 Palestinians and 381 Israelis have been killed in tit-for-tat violence since the revolt began.

I couldn't have said it better myself.
In ten years America will be just as dependant on Arab muslim oil as Europe is today. Today, America is 50 percent dependant. Today Europe is 80 percent dependant on Arab oil. As we have seen, the Europeans don't sneeze without fist getting permission from the Arab oil shieks. In ten years, unless America takes drastic steps to become energy independant, the arabs will blackmail America just like they can blackmail Europe today. When America becomaes 80 percent dependant on Arab muslim oil they will constantly demand that the US pressure Israel to commit suicide. The Arabs will demand that we teach Islam in every school in America. The arabs will demand that we take in millions of muslim refugees (over and above what we take in today). And also, the arabs will demand that we don't retaliate for future terrorist attacks. Yep..This is what's coming. If we don't comply with the arab demands, they will just shut off the oil supply...

RAMALLAH, West Bank, March 29 (Reuters) - Israeli soldiers
shot dead one of Yasser Arafat's bodyguards and wounded more
than 20 people on Friday in close combat in a building inside
the Palestinian president's headquarters, an Arafat aide said.
Nabil Abu Rdainah said Arafat was well and "in good
spirits," despite the Israeli occupation of Ramallah.
"President Arafat is in good spirits. He is not hurt, he is
busy on the phone to world leaders," he told Reuters.
Officials at the Ramallah hospital said five Palestinians
had been killed and 51 injured, seven of them critically, since
Israeli troops rumbled into Ramallah, knocked down walls and
took positions inside Arafat's compound.
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, in a televised news
conference earlier on Friday, declared Arafat "an enemy" and
said widespread action would be taken to isolate his Palestinian
Authority wherever it was believed to be fostering a "terrorist
infrastructure".
