Free Republic Highlights is proud to announce a new feature. Southack Says... a little bit about a lot of things You won't want to miss this great webpage, and be sure to tell him what you think as I'm sure you will enjoy his webpage as much as I do. Click the icon to visit his page.
Another special feature of Free Republic Highlights is My Two Cents. These are a growing collection of analytical articles and essays written by John Huang2 with a real punch on the latest event to hit the news. He is one of the best and my favorite prognosticator and pundit on Free Republic. He hits a bulls-eye every time he takes on the liberal media, the Democrats in Congress, and world leaders. These articles and essays come out almost daily, so put his column on your 'must do' list. You won't be sorry if you like to keep up with current events. If it's happened and it has been reported in the news, he's written about it.

The Word For the Day for all of you wordsmiths at Free Republic this past week were posit, flux, nuance, hyperbole, austere, convivial.
Let me know what you think and please help keep our thread bumped so those given recognition will have the opportunity to see this thread.
All essays are considered from vanity posts or replies to other posts. The criteria is that it has to be written by a Freeper and posted on Free Republic. If you have written something that you want to be considered give me a headsup and I will do my best to read it and it will be considered.
My apologies to those Freepers who have written masterpieces that just got missed by me and a few scouts that are ever watchful for the essay that is special and expressed well.
Anyone can be a Freeper Scout. All you have to do when you run across that special post is send me the thread number and send it to me by or leave me a message on the thread.
Lol....you owe me!

The posts you present are the best of the best, and more importantly, you do so NO MATTER WHICH SIDE OF THE FENCE THEY ARE ON. It evens seems as if you make an attempt to evenly present both.
Many people would just select articles which supported their own views. I think you should be heartily congratulated on this. HUZZAHHHHHH !
1) Attorney General Ashcroft issues a formal Opinion stating that Shays-Meehan is unconstitutional.
2) President Bush signs the law, BUT AT THE SAME TIME,
3) President Bush instructs the Justice Department and Solicitor General Olson to go to court immediately to seek a binding declaration that Shays-Meehan is unconstitutional.
Five times in the past, Presidents have instructed Justice and/or the Solicitor General to oppose federal laws under challenge, rather than support them. This part would be rare, but not unprecedented. The part that no President had ever done before was to sign a law and attack that law in the same day.
What the White House has actually done winds up fairly close to this. General Ashcroft and General Olson, while nominally still "defending" the law, have been sidelined by hard-left lawyers who will carry the water to defend Shays-Meehan. And, the challenges to the law did come on the very day that Bush signed the bill into law.
Where things stand today, it is likely, as this plan intended, that a Supreme Court decision striking the law would come down BEFORE the November election. That would not only defang CFR as a campaign issue, it would reverse it. Li'l Tommy Daschle and company will have to explain, going into the fall elections, why they overwhelmingly supported a clearly unconstitutional bill.
However, don't ask how I happened to see this plan, or who engineered that. That aspect must and will remain confidential.

I want to thanks and give mad shout-outs to my E. 105th and St. Clair homies in Cleveland, my homies in Elyria, Loraine, Shaker Heights, Solon, Garfield Heights, and Parma, D & M BBQ for making my Polish Boys just like I like 'em (extra greasy), Lucky Leroy who was our neighborhood wino who always had a funny story to tell for a dime, Minnie's Barber Shop for keepin' a brotha'z hair tight, The Rapid Transit Authority cause we couldn't afford a car, and Mr. Jones for always runnin' me away from his daughter and yard which helped keep me in shape.
This award is so much bigger than me. It is for all those who disappeared in both Lake Erie and the Cuyahoga River.
Thank you! Love, peace, and Afro-Sheen! I'll continue to bring da flava to FR! It's a dirty job, but somebody gotta do it.

Wow! Now I know what to say if and when I win an Oscar!
Again, many thanks.
