Both Israelis and Palestinians at present think they can get more through violence than through negotiations.

The Palis think they can destroy Israel through violence and the Israelis think that negotiations yield false gains that will destroy them. Not much to argue with there.

[peace] proposals all assume that the great underlying issue of the Arab-Israeli conflict--Arab rejection of Israel's very existence--has been resolved, leaving only secondary issues

Excellent point. Everybody runs around trying to "solve" the wrong problem.

Pipes is saying there can be no real peace until Israel's neighbors have a change of heart AND a change of regime. That is telling me that he believes that in order to move forward, Israel must not only replace the terrorist arafat, but de-nazify syria, lebanon, the west bank, gaza, and Iran. At this point many can't wait to see the Israelis get started. ARAFAT DELENDA EST!
