A Sacramento County jail inmate hanged himself, the Sheriff's Department said Wednesday.
The death was listed as a suicide, the fifth inmate suicide and the ninth inmate death in the jail in last 11 months.
The inmate, who was being held on drug-related charges, was found hanging from the upper bunk of his cell at about 12:28 a.m. Wednesday, the sheriff said in a news release.

"The jail's medical staff was treating the victim for heroin withdrawal from a habit of 1 gram of heroin a day." He's cured!!! Now, if they start handing out ropes instead of needles, heroin addiction can be wiped out!

It's all a coincidence.
Every criminal who kills himself is one less criminal that society has to worry about. I've heard similar sentiments before, from Rosie O'Donnell, towards "criminal gun owners."

five out of 11 commit suicide? Has anyone checked if a warden is doing the honors? I too find that interesting. Prisoners are customarily deprived of every item that could remotely be used as a ligature. Occasionally things may slip by, but these figures tell me there is something wrong here.
Whatever we may thing of the guilt of the prisoner, it is not up to the penal authorities to mete out their form of justice. I think this institution needs an investigation.
