Tune in to E! Entertainment Television for the preliminaries.
Thank you in advance to all our friends who will be manning the news photo sites for the fashions. What a great night this will be.

I must be the only one on the planet that couldn't care less about the oscars! I don't go to that many movies, since I like entertainment, not blood, guts and bombs and rape. I'll watch the evening news for that. There aren't any movies anymore that are worth the price of the ticket to get in.

I used to watch the AA's, have parties, love to predict and talk about it. But now all these people make me sick. I can't STAND the Joan Rivers thing and the clothes and how they look. Maybe I'm getting old, but everytime I think of these overpaid wankers getting more STUFF, I want to puke. There, I said it.

As usual, this thread will be far more entertaining than the event itself. . . . .

Will the networks be "calling" the election before the awards are announced?
To: Hillary's Lovely Legs
When finished with totally meaningless garbage like this, will the GUILD ever get around to chatting about some really killer guitars?
To: Hillary's Lovely Legs
How about "Oscars" for freepers? Who would be "freeper of the year"?

I love to look at the clothes & hairstyles, which I find really strange, because I could CARE LESS about fancy clothes & hairstyles on me. I'm a T-shirt, sweat pants, Chaco sandals kinda girl. I am intrested in Best Picture, Best Actor & Best Actress but the rest, I don't care.

Isn't this a General topic? How do we know what goes where?

People who buy into this crapola are the same ones who agonize over who will be the next backup drummer for Kinky Prevert and the Deviants. Let the lefties here go the same way as the lefties in network news. Do something of real merit...hug your grandkid, harvest some veggies, climb a mountain.

Advice from the Ages
We are not alone in our quest to determine if we should or should not be Oscar Meyer weiners. We can fall back upon the advice of wise men who have pondered this very question before us. Many do not realize that many famous philosophers, poets, and thinkers have tackled this profound issue. Below are a number of helpful quotes.
- A weiner is a terrible thing to waste... - Bill Clinton
- Do you want to see my weiner? - Bill Clinton
- L'Etat, c'est moi (I am a weiner) - Louis XV
- The mass of mankind are evidently slavish in their tastes, preferring a life suitable to beasts [and assorted meat products]. - Aristotle
- Confucius say, my balogne has a first name. - Confucious
- To be [a weiner], or not to be [a weiner], that is the question! - Shakespeare
OOPS WRONG OSCAR
To: Hillary's Lovely Legs
Welcome back. How was Italy? I can't believe I forgot that the Oscars were on!!!!! We were busy looking for countertops and I just got sidetracked. What did I miss? Who looks good tonight?

The best thing about this night is this thread.
To: Hillary's Lovely Legs
Way too many Democrats in the opening sequence: the mayors of Oakland and SF, Cronkheit, Sontag, Fran Lebowitz, etc.
It was nice to see one Republican, the First Lady, in the sequence. But when she talked about "his whale" coming in, my Northern ear didn't understand whether she was talking about "Giant" or "Moby Dick."
Whoopi repellent as usual, but good quip about Frodo Baggins and dirty Oscar campaigning.

Reese Witherspoon looked absolutely gorgeous. What a beautiful dress without cleavage, thank goodness. She reminds me of an actress from the 1930's and 1940's.
