Watching the Academy Awards and commenting on clothing and hair does not constitute support of the Hollywood Left. It is rather like how the CIA used to go over the tapes of the May Day celebrations in Red Square to see if they could tell who was in power, and who was out.
If we totally ignore Hollywood, we will be bitten badly by undercurrents of social movements of which we are unaware. Clothing and hair styles tell you a lot about what's going on in the non-political world, and these people affect the thinking of the general public.
Not that any of us should justify watching this to you, Mr/Miss Arbiter of Importance. If you don't like this thread, DON'T READ IT!

THAT would be a gorgeous dress if it had straps.

I'm half tempted not to even watch the darn show because Whoopi is the host. The last time she was - two years ago, I think - I finally shut if off in exasperation. It's a quandry because I really want to watch it but I can't stand so much of the Hollywood crowd.

Moulin Rouge! As God is my witness, I will spend the rest of my days walking this earth in search of the director of this movie. When I find him, I will take the guy that played Toulouse Latrec, and beat him to death with him, shouting "I WANT MY TWO HOURS BACK" as I am doing so.

HA! Julia has the "I've been at the beach all day and just threw my hair up with a clip" look. It baffles me.
Well, seeing as we all had to watch Julia's hairsprayed-to-hell beehive doo bob up and down while she gave that outrageously long acceptance speech last year, I'm rather gleeful that she came looking like a beach scag. Meow.
I just wanted to let all of you gloriously shallow FReeper ladies who are dishing out the dirt this evening to know just how much I enjoy this great thread. Meowsa, gals!!!
As to those self-righteous twits who claim that they would never stoop so low...why are you even here? I'll bet that you are checking out the pics and comments even while swearing that you'd have nothing to do with this Hollywood hoopla. (Yeah, right.)

"Looks a bit fey in this picture but he is one of my favs. Although he is not favored to win tonight. Angela Jolie's dad, Jon Voight"
I've always liked Voight since his performance in Midnight Cowboy. It was a great pleasure to see him back working finally after his lengthy hiatus from the silver screen.

I say Whoopi will go about 17 seconds before throwing GW Bush a left hook. Yep..She'll slam Bush from the left of course. And I'm sure she will slip in plenty of race issues...maybe she will say something like 'who held a gun to the hollywood mogul's heads making them nominate so many brothas and sistas to best actor awards'?
To: Jhensy
LOL! You don't thay! ;-)

At least J-Lo looks like she tried to "do" her hair, most of the other women look like they rode over with the top down on the convertible -- what is it with this slob-hair look -- doesn't anyone own a brush ???
