Sorry, I shouldn't have been so abrupt. And I do agree with your statement about how if someone of color hasn't achieved or won something, it is because of the color of their skin.

White racists in the past used to describe someone as black if they had a single great-great-great grandparent who was black but never described someone as white if they had a single great-great-great grandparent who was white. Funny how many blacks today have the same sort of attitude.

You are correct- are you saying that nobody should consider Halle to be Black? Why not?

Hattie McDaniel left her Oscar to Howard University in her will. It was stolen from there during an anti war protest. Just one more reason why I hate those lib Clymers. Not only were they anti American, but theives to boot.

yes, it was. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I am not normally a "sports movie" person.

Maybe it's just that he was so stunning when young. Most men age very well. He hasn't been as lucky.

Crowe was robbed for being a complete jerk. He's a great actor (3 nominations in 3 years), but you can't run around treating everybody like dirt. Most of the Academy voters aren't big name actors or directors. They're mostly behind the scenes people who get to see the big stars up close under stress. They're very unlikely to vote for a cad more than once in his/her career.

Thanks for the reminder. Had a major brain cramp.

As for "Glory", I think they said that he won for Best Supporting Actor in that one.

Um, I like Halle Berry. I don't like that she dragged race into her win.

I would go along with that. Denzel showed much more class. A nod at race wouldn't have been wholly out of place -- one could look at Denzel's gesture to Sidney Poitier in that light -- but Halle went on way too long. I still like her, but I think she may be embarassed tomorrow.

LotR will win for best picture.

I sincerely hope you are right. It's my favorite movie. And the books, they are the best work of fiction ever, hands down.

Of course there is. This show was being plugged as the "its about time" awards ever since the nominations were announced.

But let's remember ... Hollywood and it's award shows are totally irrelevant anyway.

I am a tall, fair-shinned, blue-eyed redhead - yet I am not at all proud of Nicole Kidman for starring in that piece of trash Moulin Rouge and I would have been upset if she had won the Oscar for it.
