Let's see if I go 3 for 3... LotR will win for best picture.
To: valerie
It's too bad that the historical significance of Halle's win is lost on so many of you on this thread but I guess you don't like being reminded that race sometimes matters.</> Race doesn't matter when the award is SUPPOSED to be given for talent....not the color of your skin.
To: rintense
Go Denzel Go! Always been one of my favorite actors. It's about damn time he finally won.
To: estrogen
HEAR HEAR!!!!!!!
To: mafree
Hattie McDaniel won a best supporting actress award. Halle is the first Black to win best actress. That's what I said.
To: StarFan
The 'two birds' was a little vulgar to me.
To: ozaukeemom
as soon as Julia said, "i love my life," i knew it was Denzel... the worst of it all is that icky Roger Ebert was right about HB and Denzel... and he did pick MR for best movie... i hope it's Beautiful Mind... i was hoping for Russell Crowe... i thought he deserved it...
To: nhoward14
Does seeing more than three black folk in one place make you fear for your life???
Poor baby!
To: mafree
White racists in the past used to describe someone as black if they had a single great-great-great grandparent who was black but never described someone as white if they had a single great-great-great grandparent who was white. Funny how many blacks today have the same sort of attitude.

why does it always have to be about Julia?I thought EVERYTHING was about Julia........ :)
To: oldvike
I think he is extremely talented. He's kinda sexy too. I think it's his voice.
To: mafree
I might as well make you madder by saying that as a Black woman I am very proud of Halle and always have been. I have two Black parents and she has one, but I consider her no less Black than I am.And I consider her no less white than I am - so why are YOU offended by my remarks? Why are YOU proud of her?
To: Hillary's Lovely Legs
Halle Berry won ... now Denzel Washington. I like both of them but what do you want to bet there's an agenda going on here. (BTW, I don't go to movies ... not any)
To: rintense
He seems to be behaving a little better than Halle.
I am sure you will be correct once more with LOTR.
Thanks for this thread, even the Barf areas! Now, I will have to go check the Dose again.
To: mafree

I am soooo disgusted. Russell Crowe was robbed all in the name of diversity. BS
To: rintense
I hope you are right. That's the whole reason I'm watching.

Halle's particular brand of beauty is no more black than it is white. Get it? It's a very individual beauty - not racial. That's not what you said. Get it?? Also, I never said her beauty was racial and I certainly don't think she is beautiful just because she is Black. You implied that Halle wouldn't be as beautiful if she had two Black parents and you can't deny saying it.
