Tonight's Fresno Support the Troops Rally was lots of fun! We had about ten people altogether and the peaceniks had about the same number show up. We didn't have any direct contact with them except for one guy who parked on our corner and was waiting for the light so he could join the peaceniks. All of a sudden he said something like, "So do you support terrorism?" We thought he must be mistaking us for peaceniks and asked what he meant and if he couldn't he read our signs. He preceeded to say that the United States was the biggest terrorist country there is, at which point we just tuned him out.
The peaceniks had a few new signs this week. One said "Occupation is terrorism". I assume that they were referring to Israel because they also had another sign that said something like "Stop sending Israel money". They also had a sign that said "Teach Your Children Peace". Sheish!
It was very windy tonight and it sprinkled on us a little. The peaceniks aren't made of as tough of stuff as we are because they left about fifteen minutes before they usually do.
Jim Rob brought his boombox as usual and we listened to and shared patriotic music with those driving by. For the first hour or so that we were there, it was a little warmer than usual and lots of people had their windows down. I am sure many of them heard our music and the response we got tonight was very heart warming!
Freepers in attendance tonight were:
A big thank you to all who showed up tonight and to those of you who couldn't make it, we missed you and hope you can join us next week!
Oh in my report I neglected to say that all who attended tonight met for dinner after the FReep where we discussed our response to the letters to the editor that the peaceniks have been sending to the Fresno Bee lately. Thanks SLJP for your help!
Bad pix, eh? Thanks too, to everyone out there for those.
Forging through!
I'll be glad to! Thanks for the bump.
Think nothing of it! I knew what you meant. LOL!
Yes, I have to agree with you. It's like if they repeat something enough, no matter how ridiculous it sounds the first hundred or so times one hears it, people will begin to believe it simply because it starts to sound a little less outrageous every time they hear it.
Also, I think that they think that it sounds like the terrorists aren't as bad as we all know they are if the United States were considered to be a terrorist country too.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!! I am full of too much medication, and I'm about to konk out, but tomorrow I will attack those sentences!! You are soooooo terribly welcome for any help I could lend to your letter, and I hope to see what you send in soon!!
God bless,
Sharon

Meanwhile I have managed to prune a few roses and clean a few patches of carpet and a few other springcleaning chores, so I am improving.
Are you all going to be out on Good Friday next week?

This was posted on a thread some time ago by Vets_Husband_and_Wife. I think Mill says it well...........
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

Glad to hear that we equaled them in number and outlasted them in time.
What a great Team!
