Did anyone catch the two-fold interview on the TODAY Show with Katie Couric?
What a joke! And where was Andrea Yates' representation? No family members from her side! I smell a division brewing in that family.
Just like on Friday during the separate news conferences, hasn't anyone noticed this? Your thoughts and comments.

I saw a little of the interview with that freak, Mr. Yates.
What a sick piece of work that clown is: "No, no...don't look at those pictures of my dead children (said with a chilling lack of emotion), listen to this bearded guy talk some mumbo jumbo about mental illness. Let's keep the focus where it belongs and talk about "why" poor Andrea did what she did."
I actually feel a little funny mentioning this, but I honestly believe that this trial is a bit of a manifestation of our post 9/11 world. That jury (as a microcosm of America) just wasn't interested in "root causes" or "why" Andrea did what she did, anymore than the American public in general gives a fig about what drives terrorists to blow up skyscrapers. We only care that some semblance of justice is done at the end of the day.
But getting back to the "dad", I can't get over what a creepy f**k that guy is. In simpler, saner, times, he'd be run out of town after a severe beating. Or charged as an accomplice or for criminal neglect of his children. The urge to throw a brick through the TV when his hideous mug was on was well nigh irresistible.

"How right you are about the seemingly motivation on the Yates' family part!"Thanks.
Look for Russell or one of his family to sign a book deal, and I smell a made-for-TV movie coming up soon.

I have noticed this new found control that he has when talking about his FIVE, DEAD children that HIS WIFE murdered "at her own hands" (his words). I think Rusty is an attactive man, although I can't see what he saw in the Olive-oil look-a-like, Andrea!

That said, the bottom line is that she and only she committed those horrendous murders I agree ---but when you look at the early childhood of other psychopathic murderers, you often see there was abuse and neglect. A mother's ability to love her children is often based on the kind of mothering she herself learned as a very small child. That doesn't let Andrea off the hook ---but I'll bet there were some serious issues in her family.

I didn't know the mother "made" Andrea take care of her dad either. I thought she wanted to because she was a nurse, and 2. she was crazy about her dad. Supposedly she brought the kids along, and I imagine her mother helped with them.

Pretty boy Lauer was fishing for the 3 women jurors to slip and say Andrea Yates was insane. They stuck to their guns, though. All of them maintained their decision that she knew right from wrong and was responsible for the murders.
MattLauer is joke.

This pretty much sums up what Perky Li'l Katie thinks of Justice, Objective Journalism, the Rule of Law, the Truth and most of her viewers. |

Since the kids are dead, what family is there left to divide?
Rusty's already said that he'll "probably" not be married to Andrea anymore.

Fabulous post, Bork! He makes me ill everytime his undying love comes shining through for that cold-blooded killer he calls his wife.
My guess is, he has been guided carefully from last June by an expert lawyer/lawyers about how he and his family should act regarding Andrea, he's mounting his own lawsuit now, and he doesn't want any slip-ups!

Maybe Andrea wanted to give her father a nice bath but never got that opportunity. Something is weird in her family ----women from normal families don't fall to pieces and go psychotic when their fathers die.

Yes, the dueling families thing is interesting. Although, her family hasn't been flown to NY like Rusty, and they gave an interview to a local reporter. Russell on the other hand has probably been flown to NY and put up in a nice hotel, and then limoed over to NBC. I am sure her family could have done the same, but they are not trying to cash on this tragedy. As a matter of fact, they are disgusted at his blaming the medical community. I think Rusty has been seeing "chi-ching" all along.

"I think Rusty is an attactive man, although I can't see what he saw in the Olive-oil look-a-like, Andrea!"He has cold eyes. My Hubby may not be real pretty, but he has big, black, expressive, WARM eyes.
It's what's underneath the surface that counts.

I will agree that there could be some iissues in her family. Can you agree that he's not normal either? Maybe his mother was treated very abusively by his dad, and so he did the same? You never seem to be condeming of him. Now we are going down the "blame her family" road, but we are not to blame the control nutbar husband as well?

Since the kids are dead, what family is there left to divide? His in-law family of nine years! I can't believe it is so obvious that there is a rift in the two families.

I think he was nuts to stay with obviously demented woman ---yes he should have seen what she was about and had her committed, he should have packed up those kids and gotten them away from her long before she murdered them. I don't know why he stayed in that marriage --I can't figure out if it was his Christianty that convinced him he had to make it work, or if he actually cared something for the whacko. Maybe he's just as insane but in a different way that made him attracted to her. No---a totally sane man would not have kept that wife.

Now we are blaming the 'village' and looking for root causes..............
To: MVV
If her family knew something was wrong with Andrea and they knew that Rusty was less then helpful then they should have never left her alone with her children while Rusty was at work. They could have made arrangements to have someone with her at all times by going to her church and getting volunteers.

Root causes can be good to explore ---Charles Manson had a terrible infancy and childhood ---it doesn't excuse him but it's good to find what makes people tick. A sane woman doesn't marry a control freak and stay with him ---so her problems obviously started long before she met Rusty. But she and she alone made the decision to murder her children.
