EU Parliament Approves Controversial Report (Attack on Catholic and Orthodox Christians)

STRASBOURG, France, MARCH 13, 2002 (Zenit.org).- The European Parliament narrowly approved a report that purports to underline the violations suffered by women because of religious extremism.

The report "Women and Fundamentalism," presented by Spanish Socialist deputy María Izquierdo, was approved by a vote of 242-240. There were 42 abstentions.

Europarliamentarians either modified or eliminated some of the more controversial points of the report, such as the request to religious leaders, including John Paul II and Eastern patriarchs, to change their views on lesbianism.

The "right to control one´s own body," regarded by some groups as a justification of abortion, was also eliminated from the text. Vatican Radio described the text as "controversial" and of "secular stamp."

European bishops sent a letter to the European Socialists´ Party, which supported the report, saying the document is "contradictory and inadequate," because, in part, it does not differentiate "between religious fundamentalism and the normal practice of religion."

With some of the worst language deleted, the Marîa Izquierdo Rojo's report was approved despite opposition from the Eastern Orthodox Churches and the Roman Catholic Church. The report was a clear attack on Christianity in its traditional European forms and is part of a plan to create a Christian-less Europe divorced from its history and deprived of its destiny.

The "right to control one´s own body," regarded by some groups as a justification of abortion,

HA

HA

HA!

Just have a 'lady' go into her local 'doctor of choice' and tell him, "Doc: my life is SO out of whack because of this - if I continue to carry it around, I don't know what I do!"

"My life is in TURMOIL! You MUST remove this curse from me!!"

"Ok, calm down: I can help you."
"Just get up here and spread your legs."

"What!? You pervert!"

"Well, you DO want an abortion don't you?"

"No! You idiot!"
"It's my left ARM that troubles me!"
"Chop it off - QUICK!!!"

The "right to control one´s own body," indeed!

Your post details only a minor assault on the Church. The internal decay, in the US Catholic Church has reached such proportions as to render the external assults insignificant. The US Church has become an actual agency of the US Government, an active advocate of socialist change, a major advocate & promoter of the Criminal alien invasion, & such a frightening sexual cess-pool that my wife & I had to remove our three children ( from our local parish ) for their own physical & spiritual safety. What the EU/PU does is of no real consequence-just more of the same, rather like the daily weather.

When, & IF, the Church cleanses itself, it might again be strong enough to stop such external assaults. Major trends in society at large would seem to preclude such internal changes. Only another epoch, the transition from the now dead materialism, to a new age of purely spiritual society might offer that hope.

One hears & sees many figures-the number of abortions is said to be very nearly equal to the number of illegal ( & thus criminal ) aliens 'arriving' since the awful RoevWade. A very interesting series of events.

You have hit the nail right on the head

Rot sets up within countries, and organizations making them vulnerable to the attack from without

Pope should quit galavanting all around the world and take care of his own house first

The Auburn Branch of HSBC Bank has kicked the Boy Scouts from their facility specifically because the Boy Scouts discriminate about sodomite troop leaders. (March 12, 2002)
Please send a written reprimand and promote the boycott of HSBC USA NY banks until they publicly apologize and make restitution to the Boy Scouts.
Your Church discriminates against using sodomites and pedophiles with it's children ministries too. Your Church is next in line for this kind of hate treatment.
HSBC discriminates against kleptomaniacs in their hiring practices.
Don't let them perform this atrocity against our right to make moral discriminations.

(1) The Pope's "own house" is the world - the Church is established in almost every country.

(2) The issue is not the Pope's globetrotting - this is actually a positive aspect of his pontificate.

(3) The Pope needs to reassert his authority in the Church by (a) laicizing and excommunicating all sexual deviants from the clergy; (b) removing heterodox clergy from any positions of authority - forbidding them to teach, preach or spread their lies; and (c) excommunicating all lay Catholics who advocate abortion, euthanasia and sexual perversion - whether they are scientists, politicians, doctors, professors, etc. This goes hand in hand with firing any employees of Catholic universities and hospitals who violate the ethic of life.

(4) As far as Catholic clergy supporting socialism, illegal immigration, etc. - this is all part and parcel of the larger problem: heretics and deviants holding places of authority in the Church. Once the advocates of Marxist "liberation theology" are excised, rational political thinking will follow.

Blessed are you when men shall revile you and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you, falsely for My sake. REJOICE, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven.

I understand that the Orthodox Church in France worked especially hard against this measure. God send them many years!

The Church is strong because Jesus loves the Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it -- from within or without.

You will get no argument from me about the need for the Catholic Church in the US to be "shook up but good" -- with many a sorry pervert in a collar put behind bars. But we do not leave the Church waiting for some Utopian perfection. We fight for Christ's poor Church with everything we've got from prayer to rosaries to chaplets to loving confrontation to the Catechism to the Vatican II documents to the Code of Canon Law. We never tire of working for the cause of the Lord, and we don't sit on the sidelines waiting for a better day.

That loud beeping sound you're hearing is the Threat Warning Signal from the ECM pod I installed in the trunk. They have you on their RADAR. You're not riding low enough for them to ignore you, anymore. Historically, external threats have been good for relations between the Catholic and Orthodox Churches.

A loud AMEN to your Scripture quote in #13.

A need for utopian perfection is not on my agenda-we have untold numbers of RAPE cases, priests engaged in homosexual relationships, rampant AID's cases & a laity that enables our poor, put-upon corrupt priesthood ( & corrupt bishops ). The US government has purchased the votes of Catholics & virtually destroyed the independence of the institution. I left to save my young children from being molested & or exposed to the ongoing exposure of this awful circumstance. Several different priests were involved, over a span of time & the most recent one tried, convicted & sentanced to several consecutive life terms.

When the priests, the gut-less so-called bishop or some other official of the church offers some sound & believable assurance of the safety of the children ( & small apology to folks like me ) I might go back. Once burned so severly, forever shy.

I grieve over what you report. May God's mercy be with every victim, and may the Lord's love especially bless you and your family. I understand your need to protect your family. It is Job One for every parent. I will pray for justice and for the Lord to make a perfect way forward for you and your family. God bless.

When the EU went from promotion of a free trade area and monetary union to deliberate interference with traditional social and religious values, decent Europeans should have dropped the EU. I cannot imagine who, other than a doctrinaire Socialist, would even consider putting up with this sort of thing.
