Thanks for posting this update and a big hi from western missouri! (I saw your bio)

Ok, here goes- let the flaming begin:
I am reasonably good at getting around quietly at night, getting in and out without being seen or heard (no, I'm not a cat burglar- these are things I learned doing night patrols in the Army!).
However, I doubt that I could go into an occupied house (with a dog), go upstairs, kidnap a child (who is old enough to fight back AND make a lot of noise), then retrace my steps and get out of the house and yard with a fair certainty of not being seen by SOMEONE!!!
The Van Dam's are going to be implicated in this kidnapping in some way- perhaps only because they had Westerfield in their house for one of their little drug and sex parties. Or perhaps for a lot more.
I'm willing to bet on this.

What the hell goes through people like this' minds? Do they just think that they can kidnap a kid, rape and murder them, hide the body and life will go on as usual? Even when the very child is from next door?
I mean, even if you take out the morality issue here, what possible logic could lead one to believe that he could get away with this?

Did you see the scratches on westerfields arms?
See this thread...they look like miniature fingernail marks..(ps, don't interpret this as a flame though!)
To: RANGERAIRBORNE
I'm willing to bet on this.I think that's a safe bet, Mr.RA.
Freegards Y'all, WhirlwindAttack out.

No flames here, you're right!

Perverse sex is just as addictive as any drug. When one is blinded by desire, whether it's for heroine, crack our underage sex, one does not think rationally. Satisfying the urge is all that matters.

No flames here. Quite the contrary. I've been suspicious of the parents since the get-go.
The mom changed her story two or three times, and the dad was a little vague as well.
I hate to even imagine how they may have been involved. I predict it's going to get very nasty.

Still, most child molesters just molest and hope the kid don't tell. If he killed her, he obviously was trying to come up with a way to not get caught. If he was able to think about that, why couldn't he realize that there was no way he could get away with it.
Of the millions of child molesters out there, I would say that the vast majority of the ones yet to be caught did not kill their victim.

I don't think that they look like fingernail marks at all - they are too round for one (almost circular - not the normal half-moon shape that one would expect) and there are 6 distinct marks - did the little girl have 6 fingers?

Well you may well be right; because something was terribly wrong here. But, could be their dog was not a 'barker'; or the dog knew the neighbor. . .and perhaps, the Father was just 'occupado' so to speak.
Also possible that Danielle may have been rendered incapable of resisting. . .
That said, am tired of hearing, they may never know how she died. . .think they could find a way, perhaps some tortuous suggestions from Westerfield's porno tapes. . .to elicit a response from this disgusting excuse of a man.
Oh, sorry, folks. . .he is not disgusting; what am I thinking, he is just suffering from a 'pornography addiction'. . .and the 'devil made him do it'.

hmm, i was thinking maybe one nail could drag and jump...thereby making a drag/scrape mark and then a claw mark? What say ye?
To: ~Kim4VRWC's~
that is a possibility..... although, most people who are fighting for their lives will not clutch and scrape with only one finger.
the scratch could be from many things, from weeds and underbrush, kitty cat, or scratching it on just about any old thing.
if there were other such markings, I would be more convinced
To: CAPPSMADNESS
It depends on if there is a grab, the claw, slip claw again. Of course you are correct..but the defendant said he got the scratches trying to get his rv unstuck from sand. It's a lame excuse IMHO. Maybe there was a tool that kept poking him, in a row or something. If there is his DNA under her nails, assuming they are left..he's toast. They may have pics of more markings..but haven't introduced them yet.

Not a lame excuse at all...... i got real banged up trying to help my husband unstick our honda from a ditch last winter. I guess the reason I doubt that these are defensive scratch marks is that one would expect to see more than one scratch -two in a row or three in a row - but not one long scratch. It kinda reminds me of a sticker-bush scratch

From what I have read, the little girls hands were about the only things that were reasonably intact - and they were removed from the body and sent to a seoerate lab.
I sincerely doubt that if her tiny body was that horribly decomposed, then any trace DNA is also decompsed, if in fact, any remains. The supposed condition of the body is such that I doubt that any trace evidence, save maybe fiber evidence, will remain - the same thing happened in the Barnes case, and even though Barbara's killer is well known, there is no evidence to convict the SOB and today he is a free man.
I hope that they truely have the right man in this case.
