I was the recipient of a very pleasant surprise when I retrieved my weekly copy of the conservative newspaper, HUMAN EVENTS, from my mailbox a few minutes ago. On page 12, in Joe D'Agostino's 'Conservative Spotlight' column, my eye was caught immediately by a black-and-white photo of Free Republic founder Jim Robinson!
This is a very flattering article; Jim discusses the history of Free Republic; the mission statement; and the situation with the LAT/WP legal entanglement.
Please keep in mind that HUMAN EVENTS has a subscriber base approaching 50,000, and is read by a number of "movers and shakers" in the Washington area. Hopefully, this prominent article in HUMAN EVENTS will help swell the ranks of both posters and lurkers here at Free Republic!

Way to go Jim Rob, Mama Bear and jkphoto.
All those mailers from Human Events to subscribe and I didn't do it. Now I'll have to scrounge up a copy.
Better yet, maybe I should just join all of you at a FResno FReep.
Two FResno FReep opportunities this weekend. Friday evening and Saturday. Watch for details.
You meet the nicest people at Central Valley Chapter FReeps.

Thanks for the compliments on my page. Looks like I have way too much time on my hands, doesn't it? LOL!
But, I have fun with it. :-)

Yes, but did the article mention cheese, moose, "all your base" or tin foil? =^)

Transcriber ping!!

How about this idea. We get the L. A. Times to reprint the Human Events article on their site and then we copy and paste it here? LOL.

"The woman who did the fireman ice sculpture in Timmins appears to be named Darlene Racicot." Thank you so much! I could find nothing on the internet about her or the sculpture. I will add her name to my page. :-)
To: Diver Dave; Jim Robinson
Thanks for the ping.
Did Jim get a copy of the article?

Way to go Jim Rob, Mama Bear and jkphoto. Thanks Dave. :-)

That would be WONDERFUL! Especially if you could make it down for the rally this Friday. The word is out that the opposition is bringing reinforcements. They always out-number us anyway. We need to get more people on our corner. Also, as you may have read, they were a bit confrontational last Friday. I know it is a long drive, but it would be great if you could join us!
Jeff, I realize I forgot to ping you to this thread......so here ya' go........(((ping!))). See post #36.

Hiya, Mama_Bear -- great to see ya =^)

This is very good news.....except, now I suppose, I am going to have to resubscribe to Human Events! It is the best conservative newspaper out there - but one only has so much time to read! :-)

In an article in the Modbee, the peace and justice folks (15) up here are planning to attend Saturday's event.
I have to admit though that I thoroughly enjoyed having a day off from FReeping. ;^) Mrs. DD did too.

Hiya' King John......always nice to see you too. Thanks for the ping to this thread. :-)

Thanks for the post. I'm not a subscriber, but I'll pick one up at the newstand in about an hour. I wonder if Insight sells back issues?
