[history]
A student group bows out of a Red Cross show rather than drop 'god' and 'prayer' from their songs.
SANTA ANA -- A student group will not sing at a Red Cross event Sunday because the troupe's director says the charity barred the use of the words "god" and "prayer."

This article was on the front page of the newspaper today, bottom left. One of the school administrators criticized Ms. Bacon, the choir director. Those commie bastards have GOT TO GO.

I like it! Thank you! Keep thinking.

On the other thread about this, I wrote that I just realized that the money I was about to give the Red Cross had the words "In God We Trust" on it. So, in order to save them the trouble of having to send it back, I'm going to give it to the Salvation Army instead.

Wonder if the general public realizes this - if so I wonder if they care

The general public as a whole may not care, It's so much easier to just write out a check and "feel" like you've done your part, but I will "feel" better by attempting to get the word out that the Red Cross thinks the Declaration of Independence and songs mentioning the word "God Bless America" are offensive.

?VERBOTEN!:
Don't forget the whole name of the organization:
RED CROSS/RED CRESCENT
Donations help fund organizations like the Palestinian Red Crescent Society,
which cranks out propaganda like this:
Israeli Army Shoots at Innocent Pregnant Women & Children
Isn't it comforting to know that the selfless contributions
of well-meaning Americans are going to support these "Red Crescent Societies"?

Another song the students were to perform, "Declaration" - based on the Declaration of Independence - was too political, Bacon said she was told. I'm speechless here.
The school's executive director, Ralph Opacic, criticized Bacon, saying the administration respects the Red Cross's preference for a nonreligious, nonpolitical music program. "It was an inappropriate decision made by an instructor," Opacic said. "To project your values as an entertainer is unprofessional. ... It should be about what the Red Cross wants, not the personal beliefs of Ms. Bacon."
You know, my first time through reading this, I thought he was being sarcastic. You know, because it sounds just so, so stupid.

Group director Cherilyn Bacon produced the "Heroes Trilogy"... ...deserves our support and encouragement for adhering to her principles.
I hope emails are flying to Orange County.
For those in Orange County, I hope a large, peaceful demonstration is planned outside the event (and a boycott of those who had been planning to attend). And I hope nationwide, the Red Cross is receiving letters telling them, no more donations.
If we want to reverse the direction our country is heading this is where is starts....on the street corners & in the neighborhoods. DO NOT let others dictate--that is how they get away with it, we complain, but comply. It's time to say NO MORE!!!!
To: WillaJohns
I sent an e-mail to the director of the Orange County brandh of the American Red Cross which stated that if they were concerned about "America the Beautiful" being offensive, they should remove the word "American" from their title.
To: WillaJohns
Time for a boycott, let the Salvation Army recieve dontations for awhile.
To: WillaJohns
I e-mailed Cherilyn Bacon and she responded only saying that she was the one who had contacted John Gibson (on the FoxsNewsNetwork) yesterday....bump for some action later...
