March 7, 2002 -- REPUBLICANS really may have to call him "Sir Rudy" now.

They're racing to beg for ex-Mayor Giuliani's help now that he's a certified kingmaker who helped boost pal Bill Simon from barely more than an asterisk to California's GOP nominee for governor.

Is anyone running against Liddy? She seems like a nice lady, but not the type we would want to succeed the Jesse the Great. We don't need another milquetoast in the Senate. Another @ss-kicker would be better...

It's not so much that she's a "milquetoast." It's that she's way too liberal -- on abortion, on health care, on racial set-asides, on 2nd Amendment rights, etc. But the GOP establishment is determined to see her get elected. She has every endorsement now from Faircloth to Helms himself. Her only conservative opponents are Jim Parker and Jim Snyder. It remains to be seen whether North Carolina will allow the beltway Republicans to shove this RINO down their throats.
