We all know the importance of keeping at least a limited backup in the event of catastrophe. People are acting like they cloned all three branches and have them underground signing treasury checks.
If Washington is destroyed I darn sure expect some kind of backup system to keep the basics functioning. At least now the "evil doers" know if they think they can cut the head of the US snake off they are wrong.

No kidding. Its called a "contingency plan" or "disaster recovery" in the business world and its irresponsible NOT to have them in place.
You're right. I remember a report not long ago, something like "Bush Administration Reveals Shadow Government!"...as if it was something new. I listened to the thing, and it sounded like it was something invented just prior to 9-11.
Also, just after 9-11, when certain elements started complaining that President Bush stayed on Air Force-1 ( called him "cowardly", if I remember right) I was SHOCKED to discover just how few Americans have any understanding of the original, cold war function of Air Force 1!! NO ONE I SPOKE TO (outside my family) KNEW THAT !! That's scary.
