March 2, 2002 -- Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle took the gloves off this week - and showed just how low the 2004 presidential debate might sink.
Daschle, who has an eye on the White House, suggested President Bush is thoughtlessly prosecuting America's war on terror.

I think it's instructive to compare President Bush to Daschole: Dubya, like it or not, is doing what he thinks is right. He plays to win, but his whole being is not tied to personal wins or losses. He plans on winning in 2004, and will work hard every day to win. However, I believe him when he says that he'd be just as happy to return to his ranch, and live his life.
Daschole, OTOH, proves day in and day out, that his entire being, his persona, his self-worth, is defined by his accumulation of power, and through any legislative victories, no matter the cost to this country.
To you Democrats out there (not referring to you MeeknMing, of course!), you have to know in your hearts that what I say is completely true. If you disagree with me, please refute the following points:
Why is your party, Zell Miller excluded, so against tax cuts, when it has been proven that TAX REVENUES INCREASE WHEN MARGINAL RATES ARE REDUCED?
Why are you so against rebuilding our military, when history has shown we're more likely to be attacked when our military is weak? Why were you such lapdogs for Clinton's Americorps plan, or for mandatory volunteer service (I love that one!) as a requirement for graduation, but you bristle at the thought of a return to the military draft, for national security reasons?
Why do you wail over the treatment of Johnny bin Walker and the detainees in Guantanamo, and the limits on practicing their faith, but you run screaming from the room at the mention of Jesus Christ or the mention of prayer in our schools?
Why do you want to send all the Enron executives to jail without due process, but are willing to give Jesse Jackson a free pass on over 20 years of financial shenanigans?
Inquiring minds want to know....
However, look on the bright side. 2003 is going to be a fun year, politically. All these Democrat wannabes are going to be trying to raise funds for the '04 primaries, and they're going to have to distinguish themselves, somehow.
By trying to get an early jump, and sending out all of their trial balloons now, they (especially Daschole) are making it tougher on themselves for this year's mid-term elections. Little Tommy is making it even more difficult for his counterpart from SD to win re-election.
That, IMHO, is a wonderful thing.
For Pete's sake, Daschole runs the Senate (and the country, if you ask me). He can have the Senate debate the war any day of the week and twice on Sundays, if he wants. That's within his power. He doesn't need to go whining to the press about this.
The Greta Van Susteren and Art Torres double team show was particularly disgusting. Attention Fox News, you're going to turn off your base of supporters, if you keep that kneepad broad on your channel. I didn't watch her on CNN and I'm not going to put up with her cr*p on Fox. I can't be the only one, who thinks this way.
The very fact that they would USE the war to fault Bush shows you what these people are really about.
Let the Democrats take the blame for NOT fighting terrorism.
"I think there is expansion without at least a clear direction," the nation's top Democrat said.
This little weasely skunk needs to have his musk bag removed so he wouldn't be so odorous!
The Demorats are morally bankrupt with no political issue. Bunch of losers!!
You are 100 percent correct. The Dems need to answer for Daschle, and it's not going to be pretty.
C'mon Tommy! The FreeRepublic team is ready for you!
He also said that Osama bin Hitler would die in April of that year although we would not have affirmative evidence of this until some years later.
Yes, the Dems in their last attempt at war, could, with certainty, tell the congress just when victory would be ours. He also told them just how much it would cost and every member of the house and senate was given HIS/HER week in which to prosecute the war.
FDR said, "there is enough war planning for all of us!"
PAH - Duck Faschle!
Where was the grand butt-boy when Clinton was bombing the hell out of Kosovo and having our
military set up shop in every country that was deemed by Hillary to need a few social workers?
So far as legislating the Administration's agenda, we have to ask ourselves: Are we better off with Daschle's stymieing...or Lott's fumbling?
In a political sense, I believe the GOP just might have more to gain in the 2002 elections from Daschle's obstructionism than they would have had from Lott's incompetency.
Jeffords may have done us a favor...
I use the word obtain instead of win because ...well he is a democrate
