Petitions are okay but if you want to call, here's the Capitol (sp) switchboard: 1-877-762-8762. They'll ask for your state and connect you to the right senator.

Of course, it's the weekend. I don't know if they are there on the weekend.

Because of the anthrax scare, snail mail still takes them awhile to go through. WE NEED TO EXPEDITE OUR BELIEFS IN THIS REGARD. Phone calls are the best method, with all due respect.

I wore my fingers out calling and e-mailing Jim Ramstad (R) Minnesota before the House voted and he voted yes. I got a pathetic e-mail back from him basically saying that it's ok because "Lots of Republicans voted for it".

Idiot Rino. I can call the Capitol, but if they just connect me to one of my two Senators I hardly think it will be worth the cost of a telephone call. Wellstone & Dayton. Minnesota politicians stink!

What can I do? I want to help!!! I've e-mailed the White House several times, but if calling them just gets me to Wellstone or Dayton it's absolutely 100% pointless. Tell me what to do and I'll do it. This must be stopped.

Fox News just reported that Native American tribes will be exempt from the soft money ban. The number one recipient of Native American money? John McCain - How convenient.

(My e-mail to magic bullet Spechter)

Mr. Senator,

Do not sign the Campaign Finance Reform bill.
Your allegience to our nation remaining constitutionally free is in question.
Do not remove the doubt.

I like it. I will certainly send e-mails to Wellstone & Dayton, for what it's worth. I don't have a fax machine or I'd do that.

I used to worry about whether I'd come across as 'intelligent', or 'learned'.

Now I just 'Peter' them ... like the impetuous apostle.

Understanding how and why Shays-Meehan violates free speech is simple and certainly doesn't demand scholarly Constitutional research to derive a just conclusion.

All members of congress, the President and Supreme Court judges take an oath to uphold the United States Constitution. That any of them can't comprehend that Shays-Meehan violates the right of free speech and is unconstitutional and thus votes in favor of the bill has proven themselves incompetent and thus unworthy of holding the office they do and should be impeached. For any of the above government officials that do comprehend that Shays-Meehan violates the right of free speech and is unconstitutional yet vote in favor of it should possibly be charged with treason.

I share your frustration - heck, one of my senators is McCain and you know how much good it would do to call him!

ANYWAY - Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper or call in to a local talk radio show. It really helps get the word out. Play off some of the great things you learn right here on Free Republic. If the news about the indian tribes being exempt ticks you off - then write about that. There's also some great stuff in the letter linked below ....

Good ideas, thank you! I have been sending e-mails to one of the local conservative talk show hosts, (probably the only one). He does a great job about getting the message out. I'll keep trying!
