I have no problem with people signing petitions for things they find important, and I guess 300,000 or so think this is important. I just wonder what kind of country we have become when people focus on things like this and very few care enough about the repeal of the first amendment to do a damn thing. There should be riots in the street over that issue and yet very few seem to even understand what is happening.
Please don't interpret this as dissing your cause, I only use it to highlight my frustration.
You're speaking to the choir, here, Thomas. Most all on FR have indicated they care. They have called and written letters to the White House, to their Senators and Congressman. But the media twists everything to their own advantage and the general population is not interested in reading and learning about the issues. They have been "trained" to let BIG BROTHER think for them.
Perhaps most, for sure many. But I don't see 300,000 people anywhere telling their congressmen, senators and the President that they will never vote for them again if they back this crap.
Too many Republicans here and not enough Americans.
BTW, my congressman voted against it and he's a freakin Democrat.
300,000+
Hoo-yah!
Below is a photo that my son took at Ground Zero three weeks ago. He tells me that the photo does not do the area justice (looks in two-dimensions pretty much like part of a typical city skyline). But he has been in NYC many times during his young life, and he said that a 'different atmosphere' permeated the area....that the reverence and grief was palpable. The blaring of car horns was all but absent. The people with whom he spoke (both tourists, and natives) were cordial -- many of them almost behaving as if they were visiting hallowed ground.
Note (if you can see it) the 'We salute you' banner in the lower left hand corner.
I will be driving up to Boston in a couple of weeks, and intend to stop and see the area myself on the way. It will do my heart good to know that those who gave their all during our blackest day are that much closer to receiving an even more appropriate (and historically accurate) 'salute,' thanks to your efforts.
Please don't use it to highlight your frustration. Regardless of your motives, it's distracting and contrary to the goals of this thread. Please start your one-man riot somewhere else.
(Hopefully this site will work, please let me know if it comes through or the "dreaded red x of infamy" shows up.)
Sorry, of course you are right, I wouldn't want to distract you from cheerleading for the flag while the country it represents goes into the toilet.
Flush on your way out of the thread please.
Simple flushing wouldn't do for what you dumped here.
Someone, please find me a plunger.
Tah dah !!!!
