The National Olympic Committee of South Korea released an official statement about the demarche.
The Koreans are going to boycott the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics that is to take place February 24.
This decision was made because of the fact that the Olympic officials disqualifed the South Korean speedskater Kim Dong-Sung, who had won the 1.5 kilometer race according to all rules. (Russian translation-ed.) The gold medal was re-awarded to an American athlete-yes, of course.
The representatives of South Korea did not hide their emotions. As RTR television channel informed, they said it was 'uncovered plundering and a slap in the face of the national sport.'
The director of the South Korean delegation claimed the Koreans were seriously considering a possibility of withdrawing all of their athletes from the competitions and bidding farewell to America.

And I think the 'Goodwill Games' are on the verge of bankruptcy, perhaps China and Russia can revive them.

Be nice if Russia and China took Ted Turner as their own as well. The games became a losing proposition but have to admit it was better than nothing after Carter cancelled our attendance at the Olympics.

First 9/11, and now this. Will it never end?

While the world watches the eagerly-awaited finale ofthe greatest snow-job on earth, the SK team will be celebrating by throwing another mutt on the barbie....

Well, as Jay Leno said last night about the Russians threatening to boycott the closing ceremony: "Oooooo, big threat: "If we don't get our way, we won't walk around in a circle!"

ESPN now says they will march, Korean TV says they won't.
Who know right now?
To: codebreaker
I think they got screwed on that disqualification. Thems the breaks in wild short track speed-skating.

Well, if Kim was so good, why was it our skater won the 500 meter race also. And ... if the other Korean skater had not knocked our skater down in the first race, he would have won that one too. By boycotting the finale, they only show their poor sportsmanship.

This decision was made because of the fact that the Olympic officials disqualifed the South Korean speedskater Kim Dong-Sung . . . BECAUSE HE COMMITTED SABOTAGE ON THE AMERICAN SKATER.
