There are clearly abuses on both sides. My main basic beaf with articles that address dead beat parents is that I have never seen even one article published that addresses the issues of visitation, the custodial parent's tendency to spend support payments on themself rather than the children and the need for the custodial parent to actually parent the children they have been custody over.

I would say that the need to overhaul this situation is at least fifty years overdue.

Agreed! A friend of mine believes the custodial parent should have to make an accounting of expenditures. Not a bad idea.
