I was just wondering (and looking for a live thread) too.
Last night's thread was a lot of fun and helped make listening to the opening ceremony bearable.

Great story and great champion. Very proud of this young man. Parra held the WR for a few minutes.

please give me a bump if a new thread is started....thanks

Thank god we are free of Katie Colin tonight.

Boy, their knees take a beating! You said it. If I had tried that, my knee implants would have shredded after about the third mogul from the top. I wonder how many of these athletes are going to have knees made by DuPont by the time they're 35?

Looks like India took Gold in pairs skating

Here's hoping the guy in green hasn't had curry lately....
To: strela
Did you notice they only showed about a third of the top 16 skiers in the final moguls competition? apparently they couldn't fit all 16 in because they interfered with the commercials...this is the worst coverage I can remember
To: alisasny
Hey look, someone didn't tell NBC about the elaborate first-night medals ceremony! Great seeing Bob trying to handle it
To: Ragtime Cowgirl
thank you so much for the link to the derek thread...
did you see the smile on his face following the interview...
so humble... and he's going to kick some serious euro-bottom in 10 days. stay tuned!
To: futurepotus
Costas is really upset that they have the audacity to have a program before the awards presentation.
He's really being a critical SOB about the SLC programs.
Katie's absent tonite. Maybe Katie read that scathing Washington Post article about her and Costas' yacking and jabbering last nite and is afraid to show her face.

Yup. The NBC coverage is indeed horrible. (I wonder if I can get CBC on my Dish Network dish?)

This is the worse telecast of the olympics I have ever seen. Instead of watching the awards we go to film of sking. The show looked rather interesting, but no, off to films. This afternoon they had Hanna Storm, the great female basketball interviewer, she also was bad as were the films they were showing. NBC is the pits.

I think they should call this the Winter Olymipcs of Commercials. I am seriously going to start timing how much sports time NBC devotes versus how much time they devote to commercials. I thought the coverage was horrible this evening.
I really enjoyed watching the women in the moguls, wow. And it as nice that an American took silver. And the speedskating was so incredible! A great day for the Olympics and a great day for the Americans.
And Bob Costas had a couple of snide remarks, my favorite "Well, when they finally got around to awarding the medals..." Excuse me, Bob, perhaps you should have read your prep material, all of the medals will be presented in the evening at the Medals Plaza. (I think all the medals, or at least the vast majority of them will be presented there.) And NBC didn't even bother to show Derik Parra's silver medal being awarded. Sorry to rant so long...
To: Amore
I didn't start a live thread because there was this one and the update one...plus I wasn't home to start it anyway... I know the coverage starts at 1:00 pm MT. I'll start a live thread before I go to church tomorrow...:)

(I wonder if I can get CBC on my Dish Network dish?) If you figure it out, please drop me a freepmail. I've annoyed my wife with way too much griping about the coverage. We love the Olympics, and its one of the very few things we sit down and watch together.
To: Utah Girl
And NBC didn't even bother to show Derik Parra's silver medal being awarded. Hell no, not yet. They have to make us wait till after the local news, then they'll come back with the latenight edition. I'll bet you money, right now, that they don't show that medal ceremony until right before they go off the air.
To: Endeavor
I don't think they even showed the medal ceremony where our speed skater won a silver No, NBC couldn't be bothered to show Parra being awarded his silver medal. Stupid heads. And Costas was a twerp at times this evening. "Well, when they finally got around to awarding the medals." Excuse me Bob? We all know that the medals were going to be awarded in the evening, perhaps you should have read your press guide.
And I thought the coverage stunk. What little sportings events we saw were so good. But it was like skiing for 3 minutes, 5 minutes of commercials, ski jumping for 10 minutes, profiles for 1 minute, 5 minutes of commercials, oh, then ice skating for 8 minutes, then...it was so disjointed. I'm really disappointed in the coverage.
To: TontoKowalski
Oops, I forgot about the late night coverage. I'll tune in, and I"ll bet you are right about when they broadcast Parra receiving his silver medal. (His win was so exciting today.)
