Pairs short program is slated to begin at 10 pm est on NBC. I believe it actually starts at 830 pm est so 2 hours live will not be shown. I have been unable to find the start list yet.

NBC coverage tonight EAST COAST 8-830 moguls

830-845 nordic combined

845-930 moguls finals

930-10 nordic compined

10-1130 Pairs short program

Seems like they are giving every mogul jumper coverage but wont cover all the figure skaters. Which is a shame since the best 18 pairs in the world are all great to watch.

Was it just me or did it seem that BUSH got the loudest cheers? If there was a cheer recorder there I bet he did get the most cheers.

I think because the Olympics were in (Yugoslovia) Bosnia. That was the year Scott Hamilton won the gold.

Derek Parra should provide inspiration to the team. In the first half of his race, they were saying he would probably get a few under 30 second laps, but the winners of this race would get many more. They never expected him to be in the top half it seemed, much less a medal winner. I love stories like this! :-)

Derek Parra beat his personal best by more than 15 seconds. AP

Silver lining

Derek Parra became the first American to earn a men’s 5,000-meter speed skating medal since Eric Heiden in 1980 when he won a silver Saturday. Parra temporarily set a world record with a time of 6 minutes, 17.98 seconds, a mark shattered by Jochem Uytdehaage of the Netherlands in 6:14.66.

NBC should be covering the Olympics live. I just watched their tape delayed program and wondered why the H*ll we couldn't have seen the stuff as it happened. I don't think they even showed the medal ceremony where our speed skater won a silver. Really hacks me off - particularly after the vacuous performance by Katie & Bob last night.

You do have a lot to be proud of Utah Girl, I liked the opening ceremony - too bad Katie and Bobby talked over most of it and the tv director couldn't figure out that they should have shot it more as a panorama. What was with that? Nonetheless, it was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about Utah.

Absolutely. I went to Worlds last spring in Vancouver and there are so many great skaters to watch. They don't get covered without the right sponsors or the right coaches in the kiss and cry. I'm sure you heard but Abitbol and Bernadis from France have withdrawn because she tore her achilles tendon in training. Too bad because they were silver at Europeans and may have had a chance. I predict its going to be; 1.Sale and Pelletier 2. Berezhnaya and Sikuralidze ( I don't think they've been forgiven for the doping incident 2 years back) 3. Shen and Zao 4.Totmianina and Marnin or Petrova and Tikanov 5. Ina and Zimmerman

I thought this was the "early Olympic results information" thread. Looks like I've stumbled into the "bitch about NBC's lousy coverage" thread instead.

Jaime Sale is adorable. Great performance by them. The Russians were very very good though.

Well, I guess you've seen, they are covering the pairs figure skating -- which only figures because it's very popular. I myself always have some trouble watching the moguls, because I just wince at how much damage they must be doing to their knees. Boy, their knees take a beating!
