France slams 'simplistic' US policy
French Foreign Minister Hubert Vedrine has severely criticised the United States for what he called its simplistic approach to global issues.

Mr Vedrine said in an interview with Radio France Inter that Washington was seeing everything in terms of the fight against terrorism, and taking action without consulting its allies.

He described the American approach as a problem, and said European countries should stand up for their views.

Mr Vedrine cited the Middle East as an example, saying the EU rejected Washington's unconditional support of what he called Israel's policy of pure repression.

Over the past month, other European countries have expressed concern over what they see as American unilateralism.

Another Euro socialist heard from.

This little weasel has made a career out of attacking the US and periodically spews forth a book about it.

What's the problem? Oh yea, the French. In the dictionary under the word "surrender" it says "see France". Same thing for "spineless", "ungrateful", "stupid", "slovenly"....

Understand that France considers itself "sophisticated" because it has surrendered in more languages than any other nation in history.

Attn: France!

There's a reason why you haven't received an invitation to the White House, but the King of Jordan has.

Jordan is a better ally than you. Chew on that for awhile.

Perhaps we should not have had such a "simplistic approach" in WWII. After all, there are certain excellent armchair quarterbac arguments to the effect that we should have just let Europe fall to the Nazis.

Of course, the concentration camps would have continued to operate. England would have has some Nazi puppet king, probably. Big business would have ended up adjusting to the new order and would have done just fine. Except for one little thing. It is quite possible that the Communist Evil would have been kept at bay by the National Socialist Evil. One little problem with all this worldy view, though.

Evil would have had a great Victory. To stand there and tolerate evil to flourish because it might all turn out better for us in the long run if we do nothing, is wrong. The worldly Frenchamn doesn't give a damn about evil, though. As long as gets his 35-hour work week, excellent vactaion benefits, and at least two good French meals each day, he couldn't care less about right and wrong. Heck it sounds pretty attractive me right now (when compared to dying on a Becah in Normandy), but it is wrong.

You have to cut the French some slack. They think they still matter in what goes on in the world.

Enron's approach to business is complex, the Bush administration's approach to issues is simple. Which do you trust?
