NOVA reveals startling new evidence that Soviet spies penetrated America's deepest secrets, including the Manhattan Project, in the 1940's. By cracking the code of Soviet diplomatic cables, the FBI was able to hunt down "atom spies" such as Klaus Fuchs and Julius Rosenberg. But the true "master spy," a physicist named Ted Hall, got away -- and his gripping story is presented for the first time by NOVA. Read Venona Intercepts By Peter Tyson
In 1995, the U.S. National Security Agency broke a half century of silence by releasing translations of Soviet cables decrypted back in the 1940s by the Venona Project. Venona was a top-secret U.S. effort to gather and decrypt messages sent in the 1940s by agents of what is now called the KGB and the GRU, the Soviet military intelligence agency. The cables revealed the identities of numerous Americans who were spies for the Soviet Union, including those chronicled in NOVA's "Secrets, Lies, and Atomic Spies."
The four Venona cables presented here provide striking evidence of the covert activities of several atomic-era spies, including Klaus Fuchs, Julius Rosenberg, and Theodore Alvin Hall. Through the cables and accompanying stories, peer through the keyhole into the secret lives of these and other agents, who gave away details of the atomic bomb and other highly sensitive technologies. Watch for code words such as "Enormous," which stood for the Manhattan Project, America's atomic-bomb program

Oh, really? And here I always believed -- I guess because the MediaRats always said so -- that it was because Dicky Nixon was so mean to that nice socialist Congresswoman out in California.
Seems like Dick and Dutch struck a nerve, when they stomped on the Hollywood Reds. PBS was just going on and on last night about how much Arthur Miller (and everyone else) hated Elie Kazan, for talking to HUAC about some of his pink friends, like the odious Clifford Odets, notwithstanding that Kazan wasn't really forthcoming.
Nixon walked on the Constitution, but he was a great preceptor to the People in this, that he did it on a rug laid down by FDR, and he took the Imperial Presidency that liberal ideologues and theorists like Arthur Schlesinger and James Macgregor Burns had created out of thin air, and shoved it where the sun didn't shine -- hard.
At the end of the day, he made them work really hard to get into a snit about his bugging the Democratic National Committee, without the conversation's spilling over into LBJ's having done the exact same thing -- and far more damagingly, in terms of outcomes -- to Barry Goldwater in 1964.
He used their own precious imperial tools against them, and he made them work like the devil to catch him out, without exposing that they themselves had crafted and used these selfsame tools of shadow government.

Plus as far as I understand it the "blacklist" had nothing to do with the government at all. It was Hollywood "policing" it's own. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I've heard this about Alger Hiss being the reason why people hated McCarthy and later, Nixon, but I guess I have no concept of why this would leave the leftists in such a foaming state of mind. Was Hiss like a movie star at the time? What about Hiss was so great that liberals would spend DECADES defending him, and trying to destroy people who were "mean" to him?
You are correct!
Pelose is a member of the DEMOCRAT SOCIALIST PARTY here in CA.
If you want some good info re McCarthy, you should read Ann Coulter's book "Treason". That should clear things up for you.
The Saudis pour more money into buying US Politicians than we do. There is no official in DC who is not taking Saudi money. The variety and complexity of front organizations is mind boggling. Check out Murtha’s contributors. You can bet he’s hip deep in Muslim Brothernood funding.
