They are barbarians.

Is there any other way to deal with barbarians except to eliminate them?

If we eliminate a few with great prejudice, the rest would shut up because I doubt all of them are that eager to meet Allah.

Most people wouldn't join special forces and jump out of airplanes and rescue hostages and swim through mud and whatever, either.....

They do it to save the lives of others. You're still stretching this a bit.

youre making false comparisons by comparing people IN AMERICA doing their jobs to people in PAKISTAN doing their "jobs."

An American doing their job is an American doing their job. Where is of no importance. Like I said before, many Americans are putting themselves at risk everyday right here in America to do their job.

Maybe the reporter would have found out some info which would have saved the lives of others....they have before.

with all due respect, you continue to fail to make the distinction between behavior INSIDE AMERICA, and outside america in hostile territories where folks have been warned to stay the hell out of. you really want to compare being warned to stay out of pakistan to being warned that terrorists want to poison OUR water supply?

People who put themselves in harm's way to do their jobs knowing full well the dangers, are heroes.

The Taliban?
Hit men?
Abortion doctors?
I disagree. It depends on what the job is.
The reporters who chose to disobey warnings from the State Dept. are not heros. They may do more harm to this country than good. Who knows?

please tell us youre kidding. do you recall condoleeza rice asking the "americans in media doing their job" to kindly calm down with the jubilant airing of osama's rantings back in november? are you a reporter by any chance? know one? love one? this is no vendetta against reporters, but please dont say an american doing their job is an american doing their job IN THIS CASE. call the kidnappers yourself and tell them what youre telling us, and dont be offended by the dial tone you hear after you tell them, "we have freedom of the press here in america!"

His wife is pregnant for their first child.

Thank God for that! That child will be so precious to her.

MUSLIMS SHOULD ENJOY THE SAME PROTECTION AS ANY AMERICANS.

I have absolutely no problem at all repeating this after you, providing the Muslims you are talking about are American Muslims. We either all have the same rights,or none of us are secure in ANY of our rights. Who would you remove Constitutional protections from next,Protestants? Catholics? Jews? Atheists?

The CIA used to abduct people. But then Carter and Church denutted the CIA. And the world lost their fear of the US. Loss of respect wasn't far behind.

This kind of stuff didn't happen when we used to be a little more hard edged about dealing with a-hole radicals.

If they kill him, they sign their own death warrants at the same time. This is the only way to deal with this type of thing. It's "early days" yet and these people may be slightly confused about this. They may think America is still willing to roll over and be the world's bitch at the slightest threat. The next group won't have this excuse.

An American doing their job is an American doing their job. Where is of no importance.

And I ask again, if an American businessman on business in Columbia is kidnapped by drug lords should the US Military go in and get him?

They may have just created a martyr. Once Oprah has Daniel Pearl's 6-month pregnant wife on her show, you'll have every soccer mom backing up this war effort.

The soccer moms are already backing the war effort because they were watching tv on 9/11.

I just don't think we should rush to judge the guy, considering that if...

Fair enough Don Joe, however it could be quite a long time before the "if" question is answered...perhaps never!

And I ask again, if an American businessman on business in Columbia is kidnapped by drug lords should the US Military go in and get him?

If they ask the persons relatives for the ransom....no. Perhaps the CIA should get involved though.

And I ask again, if an American businessman on business in Columbia is kidnapped by drug lords should the US Military go in and get him?

If the US government is asked for the ransom....yes, absolutely.

And I ask again, if an American businessman on business in Columbia is kidnapped by drug lords should the US Military go in and get him?

Change that "drug lord" into a 'terrorist' and in any country; asking ransom from anyone....yes, absolutely.
