Shepherd Smith Just Told Sean Hannity To Shut Up, Defends Atheism
Fox News Fair, Balanced, and Unafraid ^
Posted on 01/31/2002 11:20:41 AM PST by Recovering_Democrat
During Shep's and Sean's little conversation in the 2:00 hour Central time, Shepherd Smith defended atheists and told Sean Hannity to "shut up" when Sean said not those who didn't believe in God were, in some respects, endorsing evil acts.
Sean was closer to being right than Shep was, and Shep got a bit nasty.
They tried to make it look friendly, but it sounded a bit heated there for a while.

No. Liberals are not atheists. They believe in god: the god of the state. Their religion is politics. And Tom Daschle is the Chief Priest in the Temple.

I would have told him to shut up as well
It was a stupid statement.
This is the same as saying that those who don't believe in gravity is responsible for people falling from buildings.

Thats my belief too they have a religion of socialism.

Atheists are not automatically evil, nor are Christians automatically good. The biggest difference is Redeemed/Unredeemed. Both, of course, are sinners. Evil is something that rises above our errant human nature to serve an Evil One and to harm God's most beloved creation--mankind.

Im a deist now I can't accept any organized religion because I do not believe god would allow things that displeased him in his universe and in Christianity Judaism Islam etc there are things which displease God in the Universe. God and the universe are one and eternal.

You know, I generally like Sean Hannity, although he goes go over the edge occasionally. Just because someone is an atheist, DOES NOT mean they condone evil in any way. My son, who was raised catholic, by the way, has told me that he's an atheist. It's easy for him to believe that there is no God, he's 22 years old, and has a degree in Mathematics. Of course he's going to believe in Darwin and not Moses. Later in life, I think that will change.
That being said, there is no more loving and generous person than he. He's right now awaiting his assignment with the Peace Corps to teach Mathematics, and has specifically asked to be sent someplace like Africa, where they really need volunteers.
Don't write off all atheists as 'heathens'

Violence is the only reasonable option.
To: OWK
OWK is an atheist and he's evil.

I missed the very first part of their exchange but what I did hear was Sean question that if you don't believe in God, how can you believe in evil(?). I don't know, I didn't get the feeling that Shep was defending athiests-just that he didn't agree with Sean's stance. What did I miss in the first couple of sentences?

I respect those people who believe in God but I don't believe in God myself. And I consider myself a conservative having never voted Democratic (and never will)

Dittos, R-P. There is only one righteous: The Lord Jesus Christ. A Christian's only claim to righteousness is the acceptance of Christ's work on their behalf. God says "All your works are like filthy rags." That doesn't change when one becomes a Christian. The only righteous acts are those done through us by Christ Himself.

I have a cat who's genuinely evil. Does that make him an atheist?
