A former East St. Louis principal will try Friday to get back into teaching - despite evidence that he impregnated a 14-year-old girl while he was an assistant principal.
Joseph Hayes, of Swansea, will appeal a five-year suspension of his teaching and administrative certificates handed down last year. The state teacher certification board could decide the same day whether to grant the request, said Lee Milner, spokesman for the state board of education.

A jury cleared him of the charges two years later...(1988??).....But in 1999, DNA evidence led a judge to rule in a paternity suit that Hayes was the father of the student's child.

But wait, if the boy was 14 and the teacher was hot, we would have the usual suspects showing up congratulating the kid.
The double standard in situations like this is palpable.
