KOGO AM 600 talk show host Roger Hedgecock has just broken the story that the INS has arrested ten illegal aliens (he gave the nationalities, but I can't recall any other than Honduras) at the Point Loma nuclear submarine base in San Diego. The aliens were employed by a contractor and were engaged in the sandblasting and painting of a nuclear submarine! 5 of the aliens had obtained base clearances, and 5 had not. Some aliens fled at the approach of the INS, causing the lockdown of the base. 2 were later apprehended when their hiding place was located. When the INS refused to comment, the KOGO news staff requested the name of the FBI agent in charge of Homeland Security for the San Diego area. They were told that there was none.
After my lifetime of left-wing crap, spread as Gospel, this MESS will take one LONG TIME to undo. We are in a sad state, but the last election gave us one last chance...
Well, maybe.
But only if you are willing to make an issue of getting a "base clearance" that the presence on the base -- and the millions employed in other, many as sensitive, places -- of the other five arrested criminal aliens proved was, in any case, Absolutely bloody worthless!
Let us never forget that in America there are twenty thousand corporations that offer more attractive empolyment than does the feral gummint -- and that even on its very best day the feral and other levels of gummint get only those left after the first twenty thousand corporations have had their pick.
And/or that more than 95% of all gummint employees in America are [To some or other extent] activist "DemocRATs."
U.S. Government to classygreeneyedblonde: Make me.
Let's see. Driver's license...illegals get them all the time. Social security card...not usually carried on one's person.
An illegal alien is not going to have those kinds of ID.
I just proved you wrong.
Any American citizen could easily prove it if need be. The idea of a national ID card is nothing more than a sinister plan to monitor, control and invade every element of our lives.
Cap the data storage at a ridiculously low amount per person, forbid the use of third-party data services, and mandate the ID information that must be kept to provide cross-verification. That will take care of the monitoring issue.
It will do nothing to deter illegals. So I'll say it again; put the burden of proof on the illegals...not on citizens.
Let me get this straight: you say "put the burden of proof" on illegals, but then allow them the use of ID that is easily obtained by anyone without respect to their legal status.
Well, someone tell that to the biggest loudmouth "SEAL OFF THE BORDERS" person I know. He's also the biggest hirer of day labor there is. I don't think he'd give any more money to Glen Spencer if ol' Glen suggested THAT.
That means that prospective hires need to PROVE beyond all doubt that they are legal by evidencing a social security card, a birth certificate, a green card, a drivers license and after that they have to go through a required background check. The onus is thus placed squarely on the business, just like the onus is placed on taxpayers to prove they are innocent. If an employer screws up...tough rocks.
And if the government issued the hiree any identification at all, then the case bombs--if the government can't spot phony paper, how the hell is anyone else supposed to?
If truth be told, just about everyone can spot an illegal alien.
If truth be told, just about anyone can spot an ignorant goober like you as well. I found out the hard way that I was employing three illegal alien in the early 1990s. The INS didn't notice them at all. Oh yeah, one was from Serbia, and two were from Ireland. Guess they'd fly under your magic illegal-alien-detecting radar.
What you're talking about is called "vaporware." Digital Angel has yet to ship one functional unit. Also, the effort required to precisely track down the target requires a LOT of manpower for one person. Solution? Get one of those mylay anti-static bags for shipping computer chips around and stick the card in it when you're not using it.
The problem is that the propagation characteristics of the signal are downright lousy. IIRC, it's in a frequency band that gets absorbed by water vapor.
Remember LOS ALAMOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember that the touchy clinton administration ORDERED that no employees of high rank were ALLOWED to wear their access badges stating their rank on their clothes because it was INSULTING to those who did not have that rank!!! Remember that the touchy feely clinton administration OPENED the doors to our NUCLEAR RESEACH FACILITY to all foreign visitors.....NO VETTING NECESSARY!
Remember...........
Remember the INS under clinton was ANXIOUS to bring in as many illegals as POSSIBLE! It's the VOTES you know!
Remember al gore GRANTING that special, precious, greatest gift we as a nation have to give.......CITIZENSHIP...........to over ONE MILLIONS ILLEGAL ALIENS to clear the so called cluttered INS files.....these people had NO education in what it means to be an AMERICAN....but they DID leave their citizen ceremonys (after doing NOTHING to earn this gift except come here illegally) with PICTURES in their hands of al gore and billy clinton, names attached, so they would be able to VOTE ACCURATELY.
REMEMBER THIS...............democrats will NEVER put our nation first. Their cause, their party, their agenda, to them, is worth TRASHING OUR NATIONAL SECURITY. A hundred times over. It's the VOTES, you know.
When do you get to be a full-fledged electric motor? Do you have to score 100% for a whole year? :o)
And the problem is in how the folks saying "No ID except for non-citizens" structure it. All it would take would be a simple declaration of citizenship, and that jack-booted thug law enforcement officer has to leave that person alone from that instant on, and any further questioning is a violation of that person's civil rights.
Be advised: there is a substantial contingent on FR who only tolerates your existence as a Federal LEO because your work, of necessity, involves non-citizens. And if some of the ideas about sanctioning employers come to pass, they will hate you with 100% of their beings once a "solid citizen" gets in trouble with the INS.
Problem solved!
Not.
...and can and/or fine any government employee who improperly issues any form of offical ID.
I like my solution, thanks. No super high tech ID's required, all it would take is the will to enforce.
You mean like was done with the social security number when it was made illegal to use it for identification or for keeping files on people? That was effective. < /sarcasm >
The fact that he has not cracked down on illegal aliens shows that he is not really serious about the War On Terrorism.
I assume that Bush is lax on illegal immigration because he is hoping to bring the rapidly growing block of Hispanic voters into the Republican camp (in addition to realizing that getting tough on illegal immigration will just give the liberal elitists another excuse to demonize Repubs).
