Hey SB!! It's about time I got to participate in a USO thread before the 300th post!!!! My brother, a USAF officer who was in the Pentagon on 9-11 sent me this last night, and I tried to post to a thread, but Angelfire has been letting me down lately. Please note, this was not made available through any USAF channels but IS available as a matter of public record.
I thought I'd share it here as a link, but it's not for the squeamish...Despite what anyone has heard, this shows the devestating results of Army/ Navy coordination, basically born of the lessons learned in Grenada in '83. Note that the vehicle described as a BMP is actuall a BTR Variant:

Beautiful pic, Bunny.
The look on that bird reminds me of how my wife looks at me when I'm having a
cocktail.
...actually, she stares more like a hawk. ;^)

Good Saturday morning to you. I gave myself the pleasure of sleeping in a little this AM. Mrs SLB and our three youngest daughters (19, 13, and 10) stayed up until about 1:00 this morning watching a good classic movie;
Mr Smith Goes to Washington. In a dream world, wouldn't it be great if all politicians had those standards? I was very pleased to learn yesterday that at the local level a great conservative is running for office here. He tried for State Representative during the last election and came very close to defeating the Kentucky Democrat machine. Now, he has name recognition and is running for a county position (Judge Executive) which has traditionally been held by some of the most corrupt and just plain ignorant people I have seen. We might be asking for some FReeper help later on.
I prattle on, let me go get some more coffee and enjoy the posts.

I love your graphic...here is a poem to accompany it, Bunny
FREEDOM FLIES IN YOUR HEART LIKE AN EAGLE
Dusty old helmet, rusty old gun,
They sit in the corner and wait -
Two souvenirs of the Second World War
That have withstood the time, and the hate.
Mute witness to a time of much trouble.
Where kill or be killed was the law -
Were these implements used with high honor?
What was the glory they saw?
Many times I've wanted to ask them -
And now that we're here all alone,
Relics all three of a long ago war -
Where has freedom gone?
Freedom flies in your heart like an eagle.
Let it soar with the winds high above
Among the spirits of soldiers now sleeping,
Guard it with care and with love.
I salute my old friends in the corner,
I agree with all they have said -
And if the moment of truth comes tomorrow,
I'll be free, or By God, I'll be dead!

Well, it's been quite a week. I took the big leap into my personal plan to be a business consultant. I have been working on this for a couple of years in my spare time, and approached my first customer on Tuesday. They accepted with gusto. We hit it off perfectly.
I didn't go in empty handed then try to convince them that I knew what I was doing, oh no. I actually studied their company fairly well, then did a few days work on a business approach, and presented (only) the initial proposal. They were pleasantly surprised, and I had an immediate audience with the top (money controlling) manager.
I meet with them on February 4th, they are as excited as I am, at least they were very insistent on having me in ASAP.
This will be a background career until this starts to hopefully overtake my current career. So all this week, I have been effectively working 2 jobs. I have been wanting to do this for a few years, and I hope this has wings.

Canteen Joke of The Day:
--------------
Three friends die in a car accident. They go to heaven to an orientation. They are all asked, When you are in your casket and your friends and family are mourning upon you, what would you like to hear them say about you?
The first guy says, I would like to hear them say that I was the greatest doctor of my time, and a great family man.
The second guy says, I would like to hear them say that I was a wonderful husband and a school teacher, which made a huge difference in our children of tomorrow.
The last guy replies, I would like to hear them say, LOOK, HES MOVING! HES ALIVE!

I want to thank you both for your efforts on these threads.
You flag me regularly and I REALLY appreciate it!
Even though I don't always reply, I always get out here and
read through them (usually the most pleasant part of the day!).
Thank you again, you are very much appreciated!
