Scientists claim 'wonder stem cell' discovery

Scientists in the US claim they've found an adult stem cell which can turn into every other tissue in the body.

Until now, only stem cells from early embryos were thought capable of doing this.

If the claim is proved, it will mean cells from your own body could potentially be turned into replacement tissues and organs.

A team led by Catherine Verfaillie at the University of Minnesota made the discovery, according to New Scientist.

Few of their results have been published but the magazine claims it has seen a patent showing their experiments have proved the adult cells have the same potential as embryonic stem cells.

The cells were found in the bone marrow of 70% of the volunteers who donated samples.

If the results are replicated elsewhere, the discovery will not only revolutionise medicine but will cast further doubts over the ethics of the cloning of embryos for research.

The left will try as hard as they can to stop this research. They need extracted humans. It brings them cash donations.

No abortion needed.

Well, that is just not acceptable. The abortion industry needs to have a societally useful by-product to justify it's activities. Look for this research to be discredited, and soon.

No President Program of ESCR needed either.

On what will Bush base the perpetuation of his federal funding for embyronic stem cell testing?

No abortion needed.

And no risk of rejection either. I wonder what the "baby soup" crowd will have to say about this?

I'm gonna build a new me - faster, stronger, better.

I haven't decided whether to use my new powers for good or evil yet.

. I wonder what the "baby soup" crowd will have to say about this?

They'll call it a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. Another pro-life attack on freedom of choice. They'll call us homophobes, bigots, Nazis, or what ever else makes them "feel" better.

I nteresting -
However, the scientists said the ban should not extend to cloning of embryos in order to extract stem cells that have the potential to treat life-threatening diseases. That practice is sometimes called therapeutic cloning to differentiate it from reproductive cloning.
Science panel says cloning humans for reproduction unsafe, should be banned

Once again, reality refutes the thin justification for immoral choices.

Just be like The Force. Let people pay for the use of your powers. You can be neutral, and the people can decide whether to use you for good or evil.

Just a suggestion.

Shalom.

Fetal stem cell research and other stem cell research are in the barest beginning early stage. Who knows where this will lead. The same "who knows" applies to cloning research. In this they are linked.

Therapeutic cloning and reproductive cloning are one and the same, only the intended purpose is different.
