FReepers Report on National March for Life - January 22, 2002

On Tuesday, January 22, 2002, Argee, Teacup, proud2bRC, firebrand, ELS, stand waite, mudpuppy, and teacup met one another before the March for Life in Washington D.C. There was also a youngster whose screen name was, I believe, Catherine the Great, but she didn't write it down and I could be mis-remembering.
I offered to start a thread where we could post comments, pictures, whatever. This is that thread.
For my own comments, I have four thoughts.
- FReepers are all nice people, at least the seven I met yesterday were. When you are given a chance to gather as FReepers, you should take advantage of it.
- I didn't see the pro-aborts. I'm sure they were somewhere, but they didn't gather near our rally. At one point when we were all quiet for prayer I heard some cheering from another part of town. That could have been the pro-aborts. But they didn't hang around us. I don't know whether that is good news or bad news. It could be good news - they don't mess with us anymore. Or it could be bad news - we don't really matter anymore.
- Along those lines, I noticed a real party atmosphere at the rally. There were lots of old friends greeting one another with smiles and back slaps, etc. Pro-life people really know how to have fun. But what I missed was a sense of mourning - mourning for the 40,000,000+ murdered children, mourning for the women who have been abused by our abortion culture, and mourning for ourselves whose minds have to be twisted by standing by helplessly while the slaughter continues. I'm not pointing fingers, mind you. I was enjoying myself until this thought intruded. Maybe it's hard to keep your emotional edge for 29 years when nothing seems to happen. But I think it would be good if the pro-life community could remember that we're not talking about a mere political battle. People are dying every day, physically and emotionally. We need to keep our edge.
- One of the speakers told us that it's time to say, "Enough is enough." Normally G-d doesn't speak to me unless I am studying His Word. However, I heard Him yesterday. Not prophetically, mind you, but His heart. It was almost an audible warning to America that we need to get our spiritual house in order. It was kind of like that "G-d speaks" billboard that says, "Don't make me come down there. - G-d" Like I said, I was not given a prophetic word for anyone, just a senst that G-d is really not happy with our culture of death.
Those are my thoughts. I'll ping the others so they can add theirs.

Thank you Mudpuppy for the ping and also for your well said , perfect post. I agree with you sooo much !!!
To: firebrand
Thanks for the ping....
You all did a wonderful job. It is an extremely worthy cause that draws people together. Reading through this thread, however, I'm sorry to see that instead of focusing on pro-life, some have seen fit to turn it into yet another "evaluation" of Catholics and our beliefs.

We heard one counter protester while marching up Constitution Ave. He was somewhere on the side of the road, using a voice amplifier and rambling on about how being pro-life isn't the only way to get to heaven... As firebrand mentioned, we saw around 6-12 counter protestors in front of the Supreme Court. They really were a pathetic bunch. Their signs said "Keep Abortion Legal" and "Keep Your Rosaries off my Ovaries" (not much originality on their part, as usual).
Yesterday was a beautiful, clear and unseasonably warm day and today when I left DC it was totally overcast. It was great to meet more FReepers.

Shalom!
MudPuppy and Teacup, and ALL Freepers who went to Washington DC to Stand UP For:
INNOCENT LITTLE BABIES AND FOR LIFE!
Thank You...seems so empty when it comes to this issue.
So, I will say...God Bless Each And Every One Of You for taking a STAND FOR LIFE!
It is truly heartbreaking what Roe Vs. Wade - ushered into our Country...Over 40 MILLION Babies - Horrifically Murdered...almost ALL as a matter of Convenience ...Very Sad Indeed.
We cannot even begin know how our Lord's Heart Is Breaking.
Hopefully, Prayerfully one Day very Soon Infanticide will come to an END...Permanently!
Shalom

The homosexual look at me I'm walking thread got ten times the hits as this one. What do you expect? This one attacks no deviant lifestyle for the deviants to come in and defend.
Nobody defends abortion. Sometimes they defend a right to abortion, but most of those say they would not have one.
Shalom.

some have seen fit to turn it into yet another "evaluation" of Catholics and our beliefs. Not beliefs, practices. I don't have any interest in challenging Catholic beliefs.
I'm sorry if my question offended you.
Shalom.

The pictures are coming. I'm down loading them right now. Sorry for the delay. I went to sleep early last night, didn't even wait for hubby to down load the pictures off the camera onto my desktop. Sorry about that. I'm waiting for the my internet picture provider to hurry up and post them so i can get them here ASAP.

if you had had a Star of David there, should non-Jews been offended? we all come to the Almighty by many means & choose to worship in a multitude of ways.
GOOD causes welcome EVERYONE, regardless of what faith they are.
