Hi guys,
I'm a college student, interested in activism, and I need your help on two subjects.
The first is about abortion - a friend and I are working up some information to present to interested fellow students next week on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. We're interested in anything that the pro-abortion people aren't telling kids. In particular, I seem to remember hearing that more minority babies are aborted than white babies, which could be a very damning fact to this particular audience. Any information you can give us, links, book titles, whatever, would be appreciated.
The second matter is about starting a College Republicans group at our school. If anyone has any experience at that, or knows good ways to get started, would you consider sharing your experience?
...The black race baiters jumped on this with a rabid vengence. The Reverands called it "attempted genocide" of the next generation of black children.
Attempted genocide...well, that argument doesn't quite wash, does it? My understanding of Norplant is that it supresses ovulation entirely. Genocide only works if we're talking about post-conception, correct? The problem I have with the proposed Norplant implant availability is that it does not get to the root of the problem. Young girls are still going to have sex (and will probably be more encouraged to do so) because they have no sense of self-worth, or because they want to prove something to their peers, or because they completely lack a decent family and think that having sex with a guy is going to make him stick around and care about her, etc etc. Norplant also offers absolutely no protection against HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, genital herpes, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and the rest of the sexually transmitted diseases. I wish I had an easy answer. I wish we could just wave a magic wand that would make young women of ALL ethnicities realize that they are worth more than some guy's fun evening.
That is almost the identical percentage of the Cambodian population destroyed by the Khmer Rouge.
