Enron Has the Press and Democrats Seeking Investigations. Imagine That!
My own thoughts... | January 13, 2002 | DoughtyOne

What a simple sounding name.  Enron.  It has that nice ring to it like, Someone'n Ron.  Don't ask me why, but I like it.  So do the Democrats and some of the members of the press.  They're salivating in the wings.  Six different Senate and Congressional sub-committees are looking into this.  Drudge has just reported that televised hearings will be forthcoming.  Isn't it grand?

Some are likening this to Whitewater already.  A smile breaks out on my face when I hear that.  I remember all the scandles from the Clinton Presidency.  I also remember the snail's pace that any information at all surfaced regarding them.  With Enron we already we know that many public figures, both Democrats and Republicans have received donations.  Already we know that phone calls were made.  Already we know that some favors may have been asked for.  And already we have been told that none were given.  Already we know that a third party destroyed documents.  Already we know that Bush administration officials have recused themselves.  We have investigations out the cazoo just a few short months after the events.  The Justice department has opened an investigation.  Why hell, we're already six to seven years ahead of any such investigations under Clinton.  That's how long it took for his crew to admit they'd taken a B.M. in the first years of his Presidency.  And until now, Bill and Hillary never have.

None of the Bush crew have been accused of midnight raids to obscond with evidence.  No bodies have been found in parks.  No old friends of George's are being found with suicide notes and holes in the back of their heads.  No paperwork has surfaced after five years of searching.  No members of Bush's staff have moved to France like that fat old turd Maggie Williams.  Nobody has run off to a foreign nation to avoid a subpoena, say China, for instance.  So far we don't have literally hundreds of people refusing subpoenas.  Most of Bush's crew have made public statements regarding telling alll they know, none of them are pleading the fifth.

There were a number of investigations of the Clinton's deeds.  Topics ranged from, Whitewater Castle Granda and the RTC via Al D'Amato, the Travel Office Firings, three investigaitons of the Death of Vince Foster run by Klinger Fiske and Starr, Senator Thompson's hearings on Chinese Cash, Influence Pedling, intimidation, bribes, obstruction of justice, behavior not fitting for a president, abuse of power at Waco and within the Oval Office.  You name it, the Clinton administration was suspect of everything.  The reason they were was that their administration did not come forward with information in a timely manner.  Hell, they lied thier asses off and everyone knew including first and second graders.  They were lairs.  It came naturally.  Janet Reno early on appointed a special prosecutor, then spent the next six years refusing to do so again.  Then there were the unfortunate decisions.  The Clintons were really good at those.

What we've seen in the Bush administration is a willingness, in fact eagerness to get to the bottom of Enron's problems.  The Republicans haven't run from these investigations.  They've helped to set them up in record time.  Of course nobody will acknowledge this in upcoming months.  The Bush administration will have so much mud thrown in it's direction that some is sure to stick.  And should some need to, so be it.

I don't see the Republicans hiding from this investigation.  If the chips happen to fall indicating criminal activity on someone's part, so be it.  That person will pay the penalty.  And of course the media will be quick to start tallying those found guilty under this administration.  Remember Reagan's crew.  A number of them were found to have broken some technicality.  But Ron didn't cover for them.  Nobody was intimidated.  Nobody fled the nation to avoid anything.  I suspect the Bush administration will be run the same way.

I don't want any records destroyed.  And when it's found out who ordered that, I hope someone's head is handed to them.  Where laws were broken, heads should roll.  And under this administration I have confidence they will.

I've been quick to criticize Bush when it was warranted.  I still will.  But I'll be damned if I'm going to watch silenty as the media tries to play this off as another Whitewater.  If it were another Whitewater, we wouldn't have investigations for another four years, and we wouldn't have known files were destroyed until around 2007.

The Clintons are something the Charmin missed the last time around.  The Bushes are a class act.  You won't be cleaning up after them when all is said and done, the next administration moved in.  The nation's aparatus will have worked rather well long before that.  Wouldn't it be nice if we could expect the Clinton's crime syndicate to have cleaned up it's act by then.  Perhaps Clinton's old Asian buds will move back to the United States.  Perhaps some of them will talk.  And perhaps more of China's officials will come clean about Clinton complicity.  And perhaps I'll be worth $10 billion dollars in five years.  Well, you can wish any old silly thing you want.  That won't make it come true.

The next Whitewater. Come back and talk to me in 2008. We'll see how many children Bush's crew has torched by then. We'll see how many of his cabinet members are dead. We'll see how many have died around him. We'll see how many people have pled the fifth or fled the nation. We'll see if any foreign nations have given him millions for his Presidential campaign. We'll see if more nuclear secrets or missile technology is transfered. We'll see if Bush is caught with his pants down around his ankles with some intern that's about the same age as his daughter admiring his limp wick. And we'll see if he threatens her friends.

Yep our sterling media is going to give us all the facts folks. Isn't it amazing how they act when they really seem interested in a story for the first time in ten years? Hey, the nation comes first again you know. Heh heh he.

Yeah, the next Whitewater. LOL...

I don't agree 100% in what President Bush has done so far but calling him a liar is probably the dumbest thing I've seen so far. The guy is so above board it makes the left sick !

I am a sometimes reluctant Bush fan, but you are right on here!
