On Thursday, January 10, 2002, the White House reported President Bush signed the ominous $15.4 billion foreign appropriations bill, H.R. 2506, for fiscal-year 2002. The bill authorizes $446.5 million U.S. tax dollars to be given to other countries for abortion-family planning activities throughout the world. The abortion-family planning funds approved by Bush represents an increase of $21.5 million over last year for international family planning. Also on Thursday, Bush signed the labor, education and health spending bill, and a defense spending bill that was widely reported by The Associated Press (Bush Signs Defense Spending Bill).

Covenant News has no credibility. What is "abortion-family planning activities"? Do they My guess is that none of the money is going to fund abortions. If it was, Covenant News would have said "abortion", not "abortion-family planning".
But then some people consider the use of condoms and birth control pills/devices a form of abortion.

we make it all the easier for International Planned Parenthood and their monied allies to pick up where we left off. Excellent point, this will make it easier for some other source to pick up the slack, so to speak

It is impossible to prevent some of this funding from being used for abortions, surgical or chemical. Furthermore, by providing all of the funding for the "non-abortifacient" methods of family planning, we make it all the easier for International Planned Parenthood and their monied allies to pick up where we left off. That is the risk of every penny of foreign aid. Shoot, there are probably foreign-aid dollars used by terrorists, but that is not what the article was saying.
The article stated, "The bill authorizes $446.5 million U.S. tax dollars to be given to other countries for abortion-family planning activities throughout the world."
That is not what the bill authorizes, in fact in bans that usage. The article is 100% a lie, or do you really care?

actually, the better question is whether any of our tax monies should be sent overseas for any reason, and what is the portion of the Constitution that authorizes it... That is a better question, but this attack article is a pure lie.

In my business, I need a heck of a lot of money for advertising. If only I didn't have to spend so much on payroll, I'd be able to allocate more funds to the ad budget.
Basically, US taxpayers just picked up the tab for payroll.

truthandlife.....Do you care that the article that you posted is just an outright lie?
To: Always Right
"That is the risk of every penny of foreign aid..." You bet. And that's an even bigger problem.
But this is the equivalent of the US funding Islamicist madrassas in Pakistan while earmarking the funds for "textbooks only."
To: Always Right
Do you care that the net effect of this bill is to make it easier for "family planning" NGO's worldwide to murder millions of unborn children?
To: cicero's_son
But this is the equivalent of the US funding Islamicist madrassas in Pakistan while earmarking the funds for "textbooks only." LOL, that could be true, let's hope it is not that bad. But I still insist that the spin on this article is a lie.

Get real and stop trying to put words in my mouth. Will our money be sent overseas? Yes. It will, it has been, and it likely always will be. Frankly, the god of "our tax dollars" is just a smokescreen for selfishness. There are more important things than money. There are some things we morally need to support with what we have been blessed with. This doesn't mean that it is incumbent upon us to fund every little special interest that comes along, but some things are morally and logically worth spending our money on. I would prefer that Americans do this on their own and their government stay out of the way and just use our money to help run the nation, but that isn't reality. Americans will not support the solving of problems overseas like they should, so our government does. Why? Because the American people ask for them to. Short of a major brain shift, that isn't going to change. Therefore, SINCE our money is going overseas anyway, family planning in and of itself is not a bad thing. Family planning with abortion attached is. I do not mind, SINCE our money is going there anyway, that it be used for family planning. I DO MIND it being used for abortion.

Bush signing this bill is no more of a change than the fact he used a recess appointment to appoint Clinton's ATF head John Magaw to transportation Security head. He did not have to use a recess appointment on this one, the Liberal democrats would have paid Bush to appoint him. Bush used the recess appointment to make it look like he was being tough, when in fact he was just his usual self, LIBERAL like he was when he signed this bill to Pay forigners to kill their babies.

They don't care. Truthandlife would care. He is not a Bush basher, but is concerned when he sees stuff like this (I don't think he would mind my speaking for him in this case). Others on this thread just are taking this as another opportunity to say "See Bush isn't a conservative" and bash Bush. They wouldn't care if Osama Bin Laden wrote the article and quoted Bush as saying He worships Satan. Though it would be an obvious lie, they would jump on it as another opportunity to say "See I told You So" when in reality the evidence does not usually support their claims. Is Bush perfect, no. But he is a conservative, he is pro-life (if a little wobbly on why he is pro-life), he is a Christian, and the attacks on him regarding this issues are for the most part unjust.

Truthandlife would care. He is not a Bush basher, but is concerned when he sees stuff like this I hope so, and I hope in the future when he uses stuff from questionable sites he would check it out a little.

Re partial birth ban...the reason Bush hasn't signed it is simple. The bill hasn't reached his desk. Don't blame W; blame congress.

We'll get the fries. International Planned Parenthood et alia will get the burgers. They must really think we are stupid.
It is like the dad who gives his college kid $20 and tells him the money can not be used for beer. So kid gets back to college and goes right out and buys $20 worth of beer and $20 worth of groceries. When he gets to the counter, he hands the clerk two twenties and points to the one his dad gave him, "This one is to pay for the groceries."
What difference does it make?

If you are implying that we would be better off with gwhore, you are insane. Yeah right. What's insane is the way the GOP cheers Bush's continuing the Clinton Legacy (and perfecting the police state) because ... well ... at least he's not REALLY Clinton.
They're playing you like a piano, bub.
