It is impossible to prevent some of this funding from being used for abortions, surgical or chemical. Furthermore, by providing all of the funding for the "non-abortifacient" methods of family planning, we make it all the easier for International Planned Parenthood and their monied allies to pick up where we left off.

That is the risk of every penny of foreign aid. Shoot, there are probably foreign-aid dollars used by terrorists, but that is not what the article was saying.

The article stated, "The bill authorizes $446.5 million U.S. tax dollars to be given to other countries for abortion-family planning activities throughout the world."

That is not what the bill authorizes, in fact in bans that usage. The article is 100% a lie, or do you really care?

"That is the risk of every penny of foreign aid..."

You bet. And that's an even bigger problem.

But this is the equivalent of the US funding Islamicist madrassas in Pakistan while earmarking the funds for "textbooks only."

They don't care. Truthandlife would care. He is not a Bush basher, but is concerned when he sees stuff like this (I don't think he would mind my speaking for him in this case). Others on this thread just are taking this as another opportunity to say "See Bush isn't a conservative" and bash Bush. They wouldn't care if Osama Bin Laden wrote the article and quoted Bush as saying He worships Satan. Though it would be an obvious lie, they would jump on it as another opportunity to say "See I told You So" when in reality the evidence does not usually support their claims. Is Bush perfect, no. But he is a conservative, he is pro-life (if a little wobbly on why he is pro-life), he is a Christian, and the attacks on him regarding this issues are for the most part unjust.

The article is not a lie -- this bill funds the odious United Nations Population Fund (a major promoter of abortion ) to the tune of $25 Million dollars. It also says nothing about preventing chemical abortions which result from the use of RU486.

The idea that the language contained in this bill is going to prevent the recipient governments, UN agencies and NGO's from funding abortion is laughable.

How does it feel to carry water for the abortionists?
